This was a terrible live video, this is the reason why I'm no longer a member at cardrunners.
I could have watched this video without sound and got almost the same information out of the video.
Why do you make a live play video when there were only ~10 minutes of information? Why not just cut away all the "air" and just show the hands that will give us students something that we can use? [If this was a "free" video to let some people watch you play it would be fine, but these videos should be made to teach your students some new concepts and how to apply them to the game]
The problem with live videos is that the person that makes it really need to put in an effort to really talk and explain their play, and probably you should make at least three of them and choose the best one to post.
You made one of the most common mistakes while making a live video, you explain WHAT you were doing but you should explain WHY. We can already see what you are doing so explaining that you usually fold KT utg is not really needed, instead explain WHY you should fold it.
Please watch your own video before you post it, if more then 20% of the video is without commentary then really consider editing it before posting. And if you also add that the little commentary that was made was pretty shallow and mostly about what you were doing and not why this becomes a terrible live video.
[two years ago I would probably have considered this video to be really good but when there are hundreds of better live videos to choose from why should I watch this video?]
I know that you are a really good player but try to fill the video with much more material so people will need to watch it 3-4 times to pick up all of the information. Also decide before you make the video who you aim to teach, is it beginners, intermediates or the pro's? Then try to fill the video with as much information as possible aimed at that group of players.
Hope I wasn't to harsh but it is just so many bad live videos that is being produced, at many teaching sites it seems like it's more important how many videos we produce instead of how good they are. So please don't get stuck in the same trap as cardrunners did.
the dead time doesn't bother me. i guess you could concentrate all your power and try to will full tilt to present you with lots of exciting spots because youre making a video... Just like in 'The Secret'! 'I am Emil, I deserve interesting spots because it's my video day, and if I don't have anything to say I will fill the dead air with mindless chatter.' That should help.
watching this video was the biggest mistake of my life
pls talk something sometime k thx
Same issues as last week, it seems like you really don't wanna be doing these videos. If that's the case, spare us both our time and yours, I'd rather see someone that wants to do these and wants to share information.
Pauses in commentary don't bother me at all because I usually make notes on the content (bullet points) and with motor-mouth machine-gun commentary style ala Deathdonkey I need to constantly pause and rewind to keep up, with whitelime's more leisurely style I can utilize those pauses to make the notes while at the same time reflecting on the action. Different approaches, both work for me.
Hey guys,
Sorry you feel that way about the dead time. I really would appreciate it if you could provide more specific constructive criticism in the form of "right here, I was really curious why you did this...etc.". I probably take lots of situations for granted that you guys want explained. It'd be much easier for me to explain them if you point them out as much as possible so for future videos, I'll know which spots to expand upon. I can also answer a lot of your questions here in the forums. Help me out here and we'll both benefit.

What stupid unfair comment. You know whitelime personally or something? How would you know if this differs from when he is doing something he enjoys. I don't even think he should attempt to meet your unfair demand of enthusiasm let alone listen to this crap about "you should really try to get excited when you win $600" when thats a big blind in his regular games. If you dont like the videos and in the matter in which they are done dont fkn watch, but do not encourage someone this great to stop making videos and ruin it for the rest of us who really like them.
Wow I really don't understand the hate. I assume Whitelime is still fairly new to making videos, and I think this is a sign of good things to come. I'm not too bothered by the pauses between commentary, but I think the problem could be solved by adding a couple more tables.
Anyways, keep it up man, I enjoyed this video.
And yea, Thac and Nutsflopper are way out of line with their comments. Get a clue guys.
