I need a student to do a midseason 6max coaching series with me. It's called "Never Tell me the Odds." Ideal candidate will be someone who is active in the Intermediate/MSNL forum on DeucesCracked, has had coaching before and wants to really work on their game in between videos. Must play 400 or 600nl 6max online. People who want to play high stakes someday and are ambitious with their poker game. I'm not ruling anyone out, but these things are positives. Also, interest in potentially creating a DC blog about the process. Experience with camtasia, too.
If you want in, post your story here. I wanna know about your experience with or on DC (or lack of experience, that's not a bad thing just be constructive) and why you want me to help you get better. Why do 1000s of people want to watch you on video? :-) I'll check in from time to time here and will probably pick someone within 12 days or so.
BLAM!

WOW what an awesome opportunity for someone. I'm not quite msnl yet so I won't take up too much space. I'll be ready to take my shot for season 2 ![]()
I had to use google to find out what the title refers to, so I'm a bit embarrassed. However I do own the original Star Wars trilogy on dvd. Can I still apply? ![]()
For my story, you can see my coaching page. ![]()
I've spent a decent amount of time at Stars 2/4 and 3/6 and have always been ambitious to improve.
I know some people who have done coaching with you and they've loved it so I feel like you can knock out some leaks pretty quickly.
I have experience with Camtasia (LDO) and I don't see why I couldn't blog.
Holla!
Hey man.
My story, is like.. started 4y ago playing 20nl, mpved up to 100nl pretty quick, got seruious 1y ago and really started to get going with poker, now im applying to get brian as a coach and the only thing in my mind is to play 25/50 within a year, no mather what it takes
Fwiw ive started to post at 2+2 and at DC and at 2 other forums lately and i mean, i can realy justify why you scgould pick me, im playing 400-600 nl atm and ive started to really crush the stakes, im in a spot right now where im going to put in more hours than ever just to be able to play the highest games there is, i have no alternative it seems like, i just have to play there.
My real skills are, tiltcontrol and the ability to adapt to my oppontents, also i have watched every single vid made by you or FwF here at DC, at least twice
Blogging is something I allways wanted to do and i think the readers will be wery pleased with it
i mean im rambling alot atm but anyways.
gl
Pontus
im a student of Baluga btw.
You know my story Jay. As a former student and a student of a student (Wlad!). BLAST TO THE PAST?
I'll email more =/
My story is pretty common I would think, I deposited $100 2 years ago and moved all my way up to 400nl/600nl, cashed out a bunch and then moved down to 200nl got stuck there for a while, and now playing 400nl & 600nl on a regular basis.
I'm really looking forward for moving up through stakes, already have taken shots at 1000nl with poor results due running bad, I have had blogs before and made videos for my coach and for myself. This is really an amazing opportunity to improve and move up through stakes faster.
My style of play is somewhat unorthodox for those who like stats I play a very loose game something around 30/23 which I think people would like to watch in video.
Poker Front: I recently left the glamorous position of night crew at Safeway after 8 years. I decided to take a shot at poker seriously since last September. Since then i have beat nl400 6max at 6BB/100 over 200k hands. (i play as Ecstasy of Gold on Full tilt)
I play a 30/22 style and don't use math at all. I feel that your coaching would help me reach the next level by making me better understand my image at tables and the best way to exploit it. I am willing to put in whatever it takes to reach a better understanding of my game and poker in general.
Life Front: I'm 30 years old with a hot engineering wife and a cool dog. I am not like your typical grinder and i think it would be a nice change of pace to get a fresh perspective.
Sad Front: Last weekend my Niners lost to the damn Titans. I fell to 4th overall in the pickem. I then proceeded to eat a piece of pie that i had bought the day before from Marie Callender's. It was terrible. I NEED THIS!
I've been a DC member off and on since close to the beginning. I go through phases (it's me, not you DC, I care about you but sometimes I need something different, sometimes our relationship gets stale through no fault of your own), and generally I've been very happy with DC and my game has improved a lot while I've been a member. Lime-Aid and Unconventional Wisdom are my favorite series.
I started off playing 50NL and 100NL FR/6max, and moved up to 200NL 6max exclusively in 2006/2007 with 7 BI's in my account (I wouldn't have been life busto, but I had never experienced a big downswing in live poker, so I didn't really think it could happen online either, ahhh being naive lol), and never looked back.
I'm currently playing 2/4 and 3/6 6max, and a student of your very own Insyder19. I was in that boot camp episode of 2m2mm that you made w/him
. I've also coached over 160 SSNL students myself, probably over 1000 hours at this point. I would say that I have no specific style. I basically try to adapt to the table dynamics, making the best decisions I can while evaluating all of the variables presented to me. I've never played robotic poker, I just don't think that way. Be water, Bruce Lee style.
I have a blog at DC that I switched over from CR, and I have mild Camtasia experience. I've made videos before but I don't know anything crazy advanced. I'm sure I could figure it out if I needed to though.
I want you to help me get better because I absolutely know I have the potential to reach and beat high stakes, I implement and absorb things really quickly, I'm creative and analytical, and to top it off I was one of those magic the gathering kids. I played magic for 15 years and hit the pro tour many times, that's where I got into poker in the first place. In fact, I still qualify for pro tours on rating I just never go.
1000's of people want to watch me on video because....
They will learn a lot from me because I don't play robotic poker, I play a very adaptive style
I'm entertaining, somewhere between a game show host and a clown, so we'll probably get along very well ![]()
I articulate my thoughts well and speak clearly, and I always ask lots of questions because like Johnny 5 I NEED INPUT
I've got tons of hours coaching under my belt and have worked with 2 high stakes coaches so far, so I know how to present concepts in a very clear and desirable manner
I saw Return of the Jedi in the theatre ![]()
I guess you get it at this point, I love poker, I can't see myself doing anything else in my life, and I've worked very hard to get my game to where it is now, and I'm still learning every day. I will not be sated until I'm slinging houses and cars. Help me JB1-Kranobi, you're my only hope.
Poker history: I've been doing that 6max cash thing for about the past 4 years and got to the point where I quit my cushy job negotiating marketing services for a large, evil conglomerate. Joy!
Currently, I play anywhere from $100NL to $400NL (often smack in the middle at $200NL) and work on my game diligently. I've been told I have a good understanding of table dynamics and I've made this a major focus of my work thus far this year. I find the more I learn about poker the more I love it, which is incredible based upon my former career.
As far as Camtasia skill and blogging, I have my black belt in both (and I've been told my voice is rather melodious and my tiger style is strong, respectively). No big deal.
Humor aside, I take poker incredibly seriously and have the work ethic to make your series solid. This sounds like a phenominal opportunity to work with you, and I'd love to be a medium to pass that value onto the community at DC. Please let me know if you're interested in discussing this further!
I started playing poker 4 years ago (10NL FR). I changed to 6max and worked my way up to 200NL and shot-taking at 400NL. I work with a study group of fellow grinders on theory topics. I have also started playing HU recently in an effort to improve. I have worked with a few coaches and still do regularly. My main goal with poker is to get better and eventually play the nosebleeds. When I think I can't work out a certain aspect of my game for myself I talk to poker buddies or use a coach.
I finished my degree in Business and Economics (specialized in eLearning) in January this year. Before that and after that I worked at university (teaching and producing content for eLearning courses). I quit my job at university in order to focus completely on poker.
As for the camtasia skills: Part of my job was producing interactive videos for university courses on different software packages so Camtasia will be no problem for me.
I would really enjoy working with you as I have only heard great things about your coaching. Your prinnyraiding series (1 and 2) was an excellent start for my HU game and I get a lot out of the DC videos in general.
As for why 1000s of people want to watch me on video and why I want you to help me out... I take poker extremly serious.I am literally eating, sleeping and breathing poker (when I don't - I eat, sleep and breathe with my gf and go weight lifting lol). I really enjoy working on my game and talking poker in general. Obviously I also see this as a really big chance to make a significant skill jump with your help. I also would do my best to give back as much to the community as possible. If people had not coached me and if there were no training sites like DC I probably wouldn't be where I am at now.
Back to the why 1000s of people want to watch me on video: My university students have told me that they have learned the most from my courses (there are different teachers for my subject) which could mean that I am doing a good job or that all the other teachers they had pretty much suck (prob a bit of both is true
). Oh yeah they also say I am one sexy bastard with a sick sense of humour. I can bribe someone to post that all of this is true if necessary haha
God this already is way too long. If you have any further questions please let me know.
HI)
I think that if you and FF helped me one time when i just started to play may be it is time to step up on next level)I started around year and half ago at life poker games around 0.5-1 was a big looser and after watching "parallels" changed the way i think and play.move up to 1-2 then 2-4 and 5-10.And now offline poker is closed in russia so i move to online)I play around 31-25 and now what to take a shot to nl200 and nl400.Have coaching by 2 good russian online players.have had blog before)and most important thing-my target in poker isnt win most money but become a best player in the world. If you have some question about me PM me)thanks for you time.

Looks like the ideal candidate ![]()
Hi Jay,
your offer sounds like an incredible oportunity for a midstakes-grinder like me!
I play everything between nl400-nl1k on stars, but I would consider nl400 6max to be my homegame.
Since 1 1/2year I play as a professional and my first move as a pro was to subscribe to deucescracked...I've been absorbing every piece of information from the NLHE vids since then.
From scratch I'vs been active in the intermediate forum both by posting hands and participate in discussions. (Convince urself, no other candidate here has more posts than me so far
)
2 month ago I started to work with Improva (=getting coached by him) and got a huge skillboost since then, he helped me a lot to establish myself on the midstakes and to become a winner on these stakes.
Because I like to do things with 100% of commitment, I hired also a 2nd coach (a former student of Improva, Grindcore) who helps me out from time to time and provides me with new concepts/input.
As a young and hungry full time pro I can offer a lot of flexibility/free time and a sh*t ton of motivation to work with a onlinepoker-legend and one of the best coaches available on this planet!
camtasia knowledge is on hand and be sure that I would love to keep track about everything we talk about and the overall process in a blog!
so far,
with best regards Nemo
I send you a private message. I really want to work hard on my game and am already working hard watching a couple of DC videos every day.
