BB is 23/17/2.7 c/r= 2.3, fold to c-bet=72% over 9k hands.
UTG is 70/28/2.7 over 50 hands, basically an unpredictable nut-job that I want to isolate.

BB checks, UTG bets $16, Hero calls $16, BB raises to $48, UTG folds, Hero feels a bit confused...

I would raise the flop to isolate the fish. As played though, I would definitely just fold this. If BB is making a move, then I think we tip our hat. Most people play straight forward in these spots though.

I think this might be a spot where I minraise myself (not after he raises, but instead of calling). Like Kwantum said, people play fairly straightforward in spots like this and a minraise instead of a smooth call will let you see where the bb is at and I'm guessing the UTG guy will never jam on your face with worse or lose his mind with limp/raised AK or something. As played easy turbo-muck.

Thanks for the input. As far as raising the clown-bet, I blew it. At the time, I thought that if I called the BB would make it very clear where he was (fold or big raise), and if he folded I could let the goon keep firing. In hindsight I think I agree with you all (although, I'm still a bit hesitant since there aren't too many worse hands that even the clown would call a raise with).
As played, I thought it was a tough spot because there's now almost $130 in the pot and it's $32 to call. At the very least I wanted to think hard about his range before folding. So, here is my thought process:
I don't think he can have any overpair here ever. I also don't think he's got a set very often, both because they're hard to make and because his line would be retarded with a set. I mean, why would he make that weird sized raise w/ ~$95 already in the pot on this super dry board? Basically, I think he has a straight draw, another T, or 66-99 here >90% of the time.
Think I'm smoking crack?
