Well it does look weird because it seems like it would be better for him to call and call any river with 98 / sets, or worse made hands. But you never know, sometimes ppl do shove these hands. Other than does hands AK
does come to mind, allthough that might fold to flop c/r and could also flat turn. Maybe even AJ or some other A high clubs? Maybe 54s?
Neither made hands make much sense without history, nor are there many conceifable bluffs, so I would basically call any set/98/ two pair (If you ever have any that c/r flop) in your shoes, and fold pretty much everything else reluctantly and confused. I guess 7x 6x of
would be pretty close I guess. Against a range of all sets, AA for one 1 pair type hand, and AK and AJ of clubs you have 33% with 87
and 27 with 65
, you need to call 252 to win 550, so you need 31,4 % equity. So I guess call with the gutter, fold without.
Of course assumed range is quite arbitrary, but it is really hard too weigh his range too the different parts, and -i think draws and sets are somewhat simularily likely to be discounted.

yeah ur right - hand really doesn't make much sense without history. I have prob been out of line a few times vs him in the past so i guess he either read my soul or just didnt feel like folding AA/KK/AQ and decided it was best to shove turn to protect his equity or something. I'm 100% calling with any value hand except AQ on this board, which i would only c/r some of the time (actually probably very very rarely) so i just didn't understand the logic behind his shove. this post was prob more about trying to get inside his head/the head of most 2/4+ regs cause i'm only just settling in there.
whats ur view on c/r bluffing these super dry boards vs a good handreader who I know plays up to 5/10? am i likely to get folds vs these guys over multiple streets or is it best just to try to stay in line? i know this is kind of a ridiculous question because its so player dependent, just trying to get a feel for how the games play.
ps i totally agree with your assessment of villain's range, i was thinking the same thing.
i did have air in this hand - thoughts on flop c/r given i have a pretty tight flatting range here? maybe i should change thread title to 'rate my bluff'

I think you should c/r bluff sometimes ofc, some BDFD hand would be good in general. But I would not do it too much vs a early pos. range, some or most of the good players will be reluctant to fold if they think you c/r sometimes.
But I think staying in line includes bluffing sometime
