This is probably not a bluff only because people just dont bluff very often with big river check-raises. Yeh its a weird line but I usually just give these credit unless I know someone has a habit river check/raise bluffing.

what?
Has anyone actually given any combos villain has for value.
I would snap this off for sure..
Noone can really have a flush here. Given the Ad is on the board and both of you checked both of your ranges are capped here. If someone has a flush then the combos of them having it is probably around 1-2 combos (given the action).
So what hands can he do this for value with. JJ, AJ.....
I really doubt a weaker 2 pair like A5 or A6 does this for value but if thats the case its like another 4 combos.
I think out of all the most likely hands he can have for value it is AJ, so thats like 6 combos..
All in all he has v little numbers of combos, and all those combos have to be scared that sometimes you have a flush (because when you bet this flop he is never c/f'ing) so sometimes in your spot a flush draw checks behind.
Given all that Id call here, and if you are wrong you have some very valuable info. It probably means he is v good!

I think whether i call or not is player dependent. If hes on the aggressive side i call. When you check the flop it looks like you cant have the flush. If he had a flush why wouldnt he lead the turn? he cant expect you to bet the turn very often. My guess is he has a marginal hand on the turn then when you bet the river he figures hes behind so raises to bluff

I agree on this, line looks like he's picked up a flush draw on the turn and tried to bluff the river.

I usually call here. If he had a real hand he would have check/raised you on the turn as now he risks a very very bad situation where you check back a lot of bluffcatchers on the river. Thats my reasoning anyway.
Wow just realized I responded 3 months ago with a completely different response, funny how time changes how you think about the game.

and since there's a "potcontrolling move" by hero we cannot simply value the later streets action on its own, because we do not have enough information to make "smart" decisions. he has a good flush here more often than a stupid bluff. now you can start counting combos.
and its weird that you expect him to bluffraise here but not raise a weak twopair.. when you wanna call with a naked ace... you would even call KJ, right?

if he's seen you thinly value bet the river on occasions(esp vrs him) then this is a fold for me , as this auto gives him more combos that make sence including a flush/sets/AJ ect.
If I thought he couldnt have the info required to take this line for value, then I'm calling as he has less combos that make sence.
Conversley, if you have been a station vrs him on the river in past hands, this becomes more of a call, and if you have reluctant to bluffcatch its more of a fold.
So it boils down to a case of, without any additional info this is a call, as he would need a good reason to take this as a value line.
