hand was played by a student of mine. The main reason I post this hand is to figure out the exact thought process of stork. I know he doesn't fold much and ESPECIALLY overcalls every 3bet deep.

Pretty interesting to hear how good or slightly bad his play is as I don't think it's too terrible.

everyone has AK! lol wow that is sick.

not going to pretend to put his thoughts together here but thin value range + squeeze spot + some sort of read on your student = phone it up for 2 BI heh.

Some thoughts that Stork could have had;

Your student probably squeezes a decent amount of broadway cards, and probably cbetting a very wide range on the flop with this size. Since his range looks wide on the flop he's probably getting peeled light, so he will very often second barrel with decent equity (basically any Ax hands, so a big range compared to the value hands he has here on the turn, prob. just AA-TT + some very rare combo's of 5x or A4 or something). And with A2 he obviously has decent equity against your students vbetting range as well.

On the river he might think that your student really tried to set up bet sizing for max fold equity on the river / he simply thinks your students has too many potential bluffs in his range after almost all draws miss.

Don't think your students play is bad, but he has to be carefull with his frequencies. Think his sizing is fine if you balance it with your range (although I personally like betting a bit bigger on the flop, and smaller on the river with everything), and bluffing this board some % is certainly good since villains range isn't that strong, and you have all preflop premiums in your range. And ATo is certainly a decent hand equity wise / showdown value wise that it's suitable as a bluffing hand.

But he should realize that this board isn't really great for him since he isn't squeezing too many hands that connect with it, so he should be giving up a fair amount if he wants to bluff successfully vs an observant opponent.

Hielko explained it well.

I think if you are 3betting and cbetting a lot (which is a good strategy), against nearly anyone I am not betting this turn.

The simple truth is A2s was the bottom of villains range are more likely he has a hand like 77 (which is the same) however since Hero probably has enough air in this spot it, it should make it not too hard for villain to call down.

FWIW Id barrel any 9,T,J,Q,K card and sometimes a card like a 6. I also wouldnt mind barreling here if the flop had a flush draw. Id need more of a read to barrel this particular turn texture.

I can see why stork calls but i personally think this a losing call verses all but the most aggro regs. I think the 5 on the turn may convince snork to call as it may (or may not) slow you down had you had an overpair. Good to see this though as i shall be betting stork a lot thinner in the future

Maybe I'm crazy but I don't think he can fold the river after calling flop and turn, and it's pretty clear that any decent reg is going to 2 barrel any Ax on this board texture, and thus have to ship the river knowing he hsould have good fold equity.

I feel like im probbaly a jackass for saying this but I think Stork's play is standard once he decides to see a river here he can not fold.
