Hi.
1)What do you think about highest player level for coaching? I mean, if
there any sence for very good player NL5k or higher to coach medium NL5k player or good NL2k players, because of competition?
2)I lately moved from 1k to 2k, and definetly have some problems with best players at this buyin. Could you recommended a couple avaliable coaches for me? I was asking you and cts about month ago, and you both was beasy, and i don't now about others .

I just signed up for some coaching information and put you down as a the requested coach. How many students do you take on at any given time? Whats the longest you have coached someone? Success stories? Failure stories? You talked about being a good coach earlier, and how excited you were to meet with tommy and expand your teaching skill/knowledge, but I was wondering what you think makes a good student?
The number of students I take on at once varies and usually just depends on what kinds of other things I've got on my plate at the moment. For instance, I haven't been coaching at all over the past few months since I was working on creating DeucesCracked.
I've coached a few people for over one year, but at this point those guys are more like poker buddies and less like students. Nearly everyone I've coached for a decent period of time has improved significantly and some tremendously. I'm not comfortable saying who my most successful students have been unless they've talked about my coaching for themselves, but some of them are very well known in online poker.
As for failure stories - a few, definitely! Not everyone meshes well with me and not everyone is a good candidate for coaching - on that note, what makes a good student? Someone who is always asking good questions and actively works on their game outside of scheduled sessions and in conjunction with the coach. Work ethic and commitment to improving is huge.
After working with Tommy and spending some time thinking about this on my own, in the future I'm only going to be offering my own coaching as a program - either for shorthanded or heads up - and it will have an organized structure and finite end date. Once I design it and work with a few guinea pigs :-) I'll start taking on new students again.

also, i'm not sure if you'd be interested, but i have this fun mockumentary series i do about the life of a professional internet poker player and it's been pretty popular in the poker forums, if you'd ever like to do a fun cameo, it'd be really hilarious. it'd be pretty good publicity for deuces cracked too. the first vid in the series has close to 25k views (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr9hgQBGsfs)
if you're too busy, that's cool and i could mention this site anyway if you think it would help at all.
i'm pretty busy but if you're ever in new york, let me know (or vegas during the WSOP, i'll be living there then)
we would LOVE any plug for DeucesCracked though - that would be fantastic and much appreciated!
ps first episode is hilarious

Not sure what you mean by 1 - I usually would never coach a player I play against, though.
2- whitelime or FoxwoodsFiend, definitely.

What can i do against FPS?
Keep a picture of a manatee taped to the top of your computer. When you feel yourself about to pull something fancy, look at the manatee and ask him - "Mr Manatee, do you think this crazy float will work?"
For awhile, it won't answer you. Then one day, it will, and Mr. Manatee will help you get over your FPS.
It worked for me.

Krantz,
1. We need DC apparel. I want to see a take on the DC comics logo on the back of the shirt with a DC design similar to Superman on the front
Hats as well. Use green and black.
2. I think it's great that you said use the force and take down the HUD. Coincidentally I had said the same thing to a few of my friends a couple of days previous, making a similar Star Wars reference about Han Solo and Luke Skywalker shooting down Tie-Fighters.
3. If given the opportunity to go back to when you were moving up from 1-2, knowing what you know now, what would you change about your game and personal habits regarding poker.
4. I'm a writer as well, we should yap about story ideas.

Apparel is in the works - I like the Superman idea and I'll run it by my shirt designer and see if she can make it fly. Literally?
I wouldn't change anything about any of my development. You need to stumble, feel pain, be bedfellows with tilt... all that. Lose a ton of money. Get all-in bad a lot. As TA likes to say, it's all practice. You can't get into the big show without all the little stuff giving you perspective along the way.
Maybe I would have found 2+2 earlier, if I HAD to change something. I'd also learn to not play drunk or tired a lot sooner than I did.

Hi Jay,
Let's say you have a hand like 33 on a 248r, do you c-bet knowing that your throwing away whatever showdown value you have, never folding better and never getting called by worse? What about a hand like AQ on that board, for which the same things basically apply except that you much more equity if called?
Do you c-bet with the threes for instance because there are so many bad overcards and it's going to be difficult to get to showdown and would therefore rather just try and take the pot down now and then likely shut it down if called? Do you consider whether or not to c-bet with AQ as being the same as c-betting with threes here?
I realize this is really basic and common, but I'm just wondering what your thoughts on a situation like this are. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Superman t-shirts == Overused! Veto Veto!
Some of us like to walk around like we got an S on our chest
I think with the green and black DC should be more like the kryptonite to the supermen of the poker world.

I c-bet as a means of balancing, and I don't always c-bet. And I don't always shut down when called. Keep in mind you can bluff someone off 8x with the right turn/river. You need to think beyond just the flop action and look at the c-bet as part of a bigger picture.
