Although it was covered a bit in the first or second video and DJ did one a while ago, I feel it is much better to do a vid walking through the Hud setup and explaining the reasons for them and the various color limits.

It seems a bit pointless inheriting a Hud layout from someone and then not having much of a clue why the colors are set as they are, or why certain stats are sitting on the screen.

"Oh look, his Cbet has just turned orange and his fold to 3bet has just lowered a few percent, I wonder what that means to my game?!?".

Maybe do a hud layout from scratch, explaining why your adding the various bits and bobs and why you alter certain settings in HEM for instance. Then if folks want to copy it they can and also have an idea of why.

Make em make it for themselves. This season seems more about "why" rather than just the "what and how" and thats why I love it.

yeah this is why im not really in a hurry to distribute my hud. in HEM its so easy to customize one for yourself that i think people should do that. you can even use the plugging leaks documents to an extent to figure out good ranges for the stats, plus i have talked about them in a few vids of mine (baby steps 3 and/or 4?)

Good video. I really enjoyed the last hand.

I have a hand here that a guy on AIM asked my opinion on. It involves turn play and since there was some mention about posting hands in this thread I figured I would. He said villain was 22/7/2.1 156 datamined hands

SB: $26.95
BB: $29.20
UTG: $8.40
Hero (CO): $49.55
BTN: $36.70

Pre Flop: Hero is CO with A Heart A Club
1 fold, Hero raises to $0.85, BTN calls $0.85, 2 folds

Flop: ($2.05) 3 Spade J Heart 9 Spade (2 players)
Hero bets $1.50, BTN raises to $4.75, Hero calls $3.25

Turn: ($11.55) 4 Club (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $12.25

I told him to bet the turn.

Say he did bet the turn, and he was reraised. I find myself in this spot a few times a week, and it is one of the harder spots for me to feel like I played correctly.

I guess I'd fold the turn (although it's really close with aces). Although this may look a quite weak this guy seems pretty passive and i don't see him playing a J or a draw that way (it's just my experience over hundred thousands of hands that on NL25/NL50 you see very strong hands by these tight passive players - they in fact raise only there best hands). He could have hands like AJ or slowplayed AA-QQ, but i think in most cases he has a better hand than yours.
I guess the more important point is that you have to decide to go broke on the turn. Cause calling and folding to a big bet on the river is not acceptable since you have some hands of his range beat. B/F isn't a option neither.
Like to hear some more comments on that hand.

The sets diminishing in value comment near the end, and the need to have an ability to break down the board and try to figure out what our villain would have got to this point with has given me a lot of food for thought. I reckon folding two pair, and folding sets are one of the hardest parts for my level of player to get right.

just to clarify a bit - if the biggest leak in your game is your inability to fold top 2 pr and sets, you're doing pretty well Smile

Thanks for the reply. I will put that leak in my "I have more important things to worry about" pile.

Great example of using player stats and hand ranges to make a hero call.

If he checked the river, would you valuebet the queen? And how much would you bet?

I'm curious about what you do if he flats the turn here and you hit your straight. Seems to me that's scary because of the flush and full house possibilities. Prolly a naive question but I'm curious about what you would do in that spot and why.

It doesn't look like anybody's responding to this thread anymore so maybe I'll make a new one regarding this but Steve mad a very interesting point: "the rest of the hand is irrelevant if you catch a mistake early."

Often I find myself having made a mistake and trying to navigate down expensive streets and many questions come up when I'm reviewing hands.

Steve's comment seems to say that if you know that you made a mistake early on then you shouldn't ask questions about further streets (my example is flatting a min 5bet after I had 4bet a fishes min 3bet w/ kings preflop -only realizing that he wouldn't have min raised me twice with aces by the time he had checked a 22T flop).

Any thoughts?

I know this series is a few years old now but as a fairly recent member of deuces cracked I have looked at a few video series and this is the one I believe new members really should be pointed to early.

It is so relevant to my micro stakes level and I am learning a lot. I feel my game has improved significantly already and want to say thanks to tubasteve and n0whereman. Great Series. Smile
