Home game. Relatively loose/aggressive. 9 handed. In the BB, 65BB's behind after post. Stacks vary from 50 - 150BBs, average stack probably 75- 80BBs. Family pot, everyone limps around to BB. I make it 22 total with pocket aces, 6 callers. Pot ~ 145. Flop comes 7 3 2 rainbow. SB bets 7 (dont ask me why, i have no idea). I shove my remaining 108. Folded around to late position where I get a call. All others fold. Caller shows pocket deuces. I lose.
Is this a bad play because I made a bet that would only get called if I'm beat? Or is that the only real play considering pot size and my stack size?

Stack is too shallow to get away, if u had 200BB its a different story, i'm fine with ur play, 22 total with 6 callers there is ~130 in the pot + 8 limps so around 150 in the pot, u had 108 behind, its perfectly okay to be shoving aces, sure u may not be called by much worse, but if every1 folds its still a good situation 4 u

So its totally fine to shove as said. Shove seems standard.

you are committed.

However in the game u are i would rather bet 1/2 what u have left and get the rest in on the next street. That way you might get someone to call u with a weak top pair or 2nd pair and other crap.

U are never getting away in this spot and its fine to stack off.

Be happy u got all them callers when u raised to 22. perfect result for u!

LOL at the dude who bet/folds 7 bucks on the flop. Probably saw a Gus Hansen interview where he says it's great to be the first in to take a shot at the pot... perhaps Gus should have mentioned you need to bet more than an eighteenth of the pot.

Here's some pokerz math for ya @tdt55.

If you assume you have 0 equity if you're ever called when making the last bet in a hand... then the simple thing you wanna know is this.

"How often am I called? Coz every time they all fold I gets to scoop this yummy pot, but when I'm called I always lose"

(we're ignoring for the moment that you obviously DO have equity in the pot)

Now... How often does everyone have to fold for this to be a break-even proposition.

Well your bet is about 2/3 pot.

Even just reading that fraction "2/3" gives us the clue we need.

lets imagine for a moment that your opponents fold 2 out of every 5 times... and call 3 out of every 5 times...

What happens?

2 times you win 150 bucks for a total of 300
3 times you lose 100 bucks for a total of 300

and your bet is break-even.

Bam. your opponents need to all fold 40% of the time for your bet to be break-even.

Now again that is assuming you always lose when called. Which is definitely not the case.

Even vs a set you have 2 outs twice and vs 2 pair you have 5 outs twice (plus 3 extra outs on the river if you miss on the turn)

You could also get called by something like pocket TTs and be crushing them.

So you really need folds much LESS than 40% of the time.

Also, vs some of the villains you're even shallower because they only have about another 78 bucks to commit on the flop, not your 108.

You can also consider how gambley the game has been playing... do you get called by 45?

Obviously you're not thrilled about having to lead your stack into a huge crowd of villains on a board that has no draws... like a nice flush draw makes this a super obvious shove... but if you run all the numbers and take the time going into their ranges I would bet it's still +EV on this board.

Very, very good point about the 1/2 stack bet for value given the fact that I'm perfectly fine with stacking off here. Thx. How would you feel about a check-raise for instance if the SB hadnt bet?
