Hello!
So I play a lot of live nl from the 1/2nl to 2/5nl. I got invited to a home game (I invited myself) which is 5/10 Limit holdem/ O8 / and Omaha Hi. I have read Hwangs (sp?) book once on omaha and I feel like I have a grasp of the basics of omaha and o8. I have played a little limit hold em here and there, but i'm definitely not experienced. The player pool is soft, I play nl games with most of them and I'm definitely one of the best players of them if not the best. I want to start playing in the game to broaden my horizons. I feel like I have a good general grasp on the theory of poker, so I should be able to catch on to things fast. I was just wondering if anyone had any quick pointers on playing these games coming from live nl? My first night in the game is tomorrow, I just found out today.
Thanks everyone!!!!!

Most of this advice will probably be fairly obvious:
Limit Holdem - Bet and raise for value.
Omaha8 - Try not to play for a split pot, unless you can do it very cheaply. Don't be afraid to fold a good low or hi when there is a lot of action. When you have a strong hand (nut low + really good high or better) you want to put as much money in as possible, because most live players will call for 1/2 the pot or worse.
Omaha - Is this played limit or pot limit? I think most players will call a lot with marginal hands, but only raise with nuttish type hands, at least in live games. So I would bet and raise for value with a lot of hands, but fold if villain shows aggression.

Thank-you! Are starting hands generally the same in limit holdem as to nl holdem? I play pretty tight, should I loosen up a bit? Call more in position preflop maybe?
In split pot game I understand the whole idea is to scoop. I'll probably play A2xx hands only, lol
Omaha Hi is played limit. I understand starting hands so I will just play tight and postflop use general poker experience
Thanks a ton!
In the limit holdem game, if every pot is a family limpfest, suited Aces, Kings and even Queens go way up in value.
