Preflop I accept your criticism, but on the turn I think you have it wrong. I have absolutely no idea how often my opponent is going to take this line on the turn and then possibly fold. I suspect he will a little more often than you seem to suspect, but its all just guessing so there is really no point in thinking much harder about it. More importantly, this is the absolute worst hand in my range, and has really good equity all things considered, if this isn't a semibluffing candidate than you are suggesting I should try to exploit this guy by *never* bluffing this spot. I contend its hard to be that confident to make that level of exploitation and that this hand is a bluff against damn near everybody.

I am suggesting we exploit this guy by not semibluffing on this board. Perhaps this is online midstakes poker, but on that board when our opponent takes that line, they just don't fold. Now, if you tell me this guy has the ability to play AJ like this and fold the river or turn, then I agree that one hand would be enough for us to want to semibluff here, so we are really just going on assumptions here about our opponents ability to lay down a hand, which I'll concede, you will have the better answer for.

I'm telling you I simply don't know. I've never talked poker with this guy, I know he plays ok, I don't really know if the chance he plays AJ this way is 0% or 25%. I guess what I am trying to say is I feel like you want me to give a good reason to make the bluff, and I feel that the bluff *should* be the default play, and I would need a very good reason to do anything else.

agree that river bet is too thin

when he showed you tens did you say 'best hand' or did you say 'pocket jacks, never win with them, harrumph' Smile ?

i'd guess he thinks he can get you to fold a wider range than you described - TT, JJ, QQ, maybe even hero fold some Kx...after all, you do say you're known for making hero folds, heh

He just has a fascination with turning made hands into bluffs I'm guessing. I let him think he bluffed me if I remember correctly.
