$10/$20- middle pair gets 3bet my tight villain
Villain is 23/11/1.14 over 100 hands, doesnt appear overly aggressive.
Im planning to c/c this riv obviously. Is this 100% standard? I hate my hand after the flop action..

Kind of a bad river but I like your hand just fine. Vs a lot of guys I cap flop and lead.

cap and lead, vs what? big unpaired cards? and other hands we are ahead of...
are we folding to a turn raise?
Granted we have excellent equity. But shouldnt we shut down and get to SD vs the 3 bet?
I see two parts of this hand as read dependent...
1) the 3 bet...
2) if villain bets the river
a player who is agg will both 3 bet with a hand we have beat, and bet the river with a hand we beat, why not just allow him to bet?
a player who is not as agg, may 3 bet but will not bet the river UI again why not just let him.
a cap and lead loses the river bet as villain wont bet.
there are a lot of bad turn cards....A,K,J,9,8...and we may be behind already.
Mickey you are right when villain is just a huge LAG who will fire multiple barrels always, but some decent but not great players will 3 bet the flop with a draw or overcards and then take a free card, or bet turn and take a free showdown when they have ace high. Against those guys there may be more value in preventing the free cards, and also they sometimes stubbornly call down with ace high anyway hoping you are fast playing a draw.

I can virtually never find a fold on the river in these situations, and I guess getting over 8 to 1 on the river it's too good a price to fold most of the time.
But look at villains stats, he does not seem to me to be the type who will three bet the flop and bet both big streets with over cards. $10/20 plays a lot different to $2/4 but if I had 100 hands on a player at 2/4 and he had these stats, I know he is going to have a big pocket pair when I call his river bet. I still call it though lol.
Bah I call down intending on folding a 6 or jack river.
If the river is an 8 or 9 I probably still call.
So I fold this river.
Unless you are spewing a ton.
Villain calls down 78 here and doesn't bet AK.

Thanks Chuck. Im not sure i understand why we would fold a J or 6 riv but call an 8 or 9 riv. What hand are we putting him on that would make us play the riv this way.
DD- I like you rline vs aggro villains. Thanks.

Is your thinking that if a J falls, villain not only could have 98, but he might also have hands with a Jack in them like AJ, KJ and QJ. If a 6 falls then again villain not only might have 98 but could also have 55, 76 and 65.
xrosswind answered for me. J9/J8/89 all get stubborn here. Plus I want to balance my play here a little bit and not always call down.
Cheers Chuck.
Bare with me, because im dumb and obviously missing or misreading something
Hero has a pair of 7's. If we believe villain may get stubborn with J9/J8/89 etc why would we call an 8 or 9 river like you suggested in post #6. Thanks
they get goofy and check those because they don't know how to vb. I mean, you can fold an 8 or 9 if you'd like - the goal is also to establish some sort of balance. I don't think folding an 8 or 9 is that bad.
