I am not hero in this hand, hero does not have enough hands on the HJ villain to take any notice of the stats.

The game is on line LHE $10/20 six max.

Pre flop
Hero is OTB with Td Ts, and UTG open raises, HJ three bets, CO calls three cold!!! hero caps it, both blinds and the UTG player fold, HJ and CO both call.

Flop
4d 4s 3h

HJ bets out, CO folds and hero calls.

Turn
Qc

HJ bets out, hero raises with the intention of folding to a three bet and checking behind UI on the river. Is this a good spot for a free show down raise?

I see absolutely no argument for why this is better than hitting call twice. Fwiw I would raise here and value bet the river.

I think I prefer to call twice too, but if I did raise I don't think I would value bet the river. Villain is betting into a pre flop capper on both the flop and turn, doesn't that show quite a lot of strength. If you were villain with say AA or KK, and hero who capped pre flop poped you on the turn, would you three bet?

If I had AA or KK I would checkraise the flop. His flop donk says to me "I want to find out where my mid pair is at and then call down if raised"

Chuck, seems like the problem is our villain probably freezes up on a broadway river and may even check/call a blank river with a mid pair. On the other hand, most players are never folding their mid pair here once you raise the turn and bet the river, no matter how scary it comes.

Dont really like it all that much, is he really donking and paying off without having a Queen in his hand? To me this looks like a queen or nothing, and i i would probably just call down the turn donk, obv bet if checked to on the river.

I'd prefer to wait for the river to raise if I had a read that he is aggressive enough to three barrel marginal hands. O/w I just raise turn.

free showdown should have some value in folding a worse hand (no?) - nothing that beats you is folding here

if you raise the turn and he just calls, you shouldn't be checking behind the river IMO

also, if the plan is to raise fold (intending to check the river) - I prefer to go to showdown for my two bets

[color=blue]reading over the thread ... I think DD is right on with regards to the pair statement - but I think a lot of aggros are betting into the field with AA/KK in this spot too.

is the blank a 10?
this seems a little over the top for me:
1/ we are likely in a 50/50 spot on the river
2/ the times we make one extra bet is probably outweighed by the times we lose two bets (at least me, I'm too much of a donkey to fold to a three bet vs an unknown or an aggressive opponent)
