After majoring in philosophy and economics at UMass, vandweller found himself in Madison, Wisconsin, nearly broke and sleeping in some pretty strange places. He discovered online poker in 2002 and started out short-stacking low-stakes NLHE cash games on PartyPoker. Having gone just about as far with 20BBs as a human possibly can go (or should want to go), he moved on to SNGs, MTTs, and deeper stacked NLHE. On a lark, he gave his two weeks' notice and moved to Las Vegas, crushing low-to-medium buy-in daily tournaments on the Strip for a living. After Vegas chewed him up and spit him back out (or something like that), he landed in Austin, TX and now splits his time between playing SNGs, coaching SNGs, and pretty much thinking about SNGs all day long.

"After having you coach me, my understanding of SNGs and how to play them is at least twice as good as before. I never would have learned some of those concepts if you hadn't told me. There are several books out now on how to play SNGs, and some of the stuff I learned from you, simply was not in the books. I am having more fun playing SNGs now, also. They are more interesting to me, now that I better understand what is going on [...] I would recommend your teaching to anyone who wants to get better at SNGs. I really appreciate that you take a lot of time and have a very systematic approach; I am sure not all coaches are like that. You are the 3rd coach I have had since I've played poker, and were definitely the best." -T.M. (Portland, Ore)
"I used to fancy myself a cross between Phil Hellmuth (if not for luck, I would have won them all) and Gus Hansen (I can see every flop, since I have superior post flop skills). That was until the first ten seconds of the first video van made for me. He said "I am happy you decided to get coaching... quite frankly you need it," and then in very clear and understandable terms, he explained why I was playing like a donk, and more importantly how to play a better game.
I was impressed by the way he took time to look through hand histories, and select the most interesting, the worst played, and for the duration of the video, showed where there was room for improvement in the different stages of the tournament. The videos he has made for me have been fully packed with info. If you are a low stakes grinder, or casual player. My best advice to you is to get all the discounted coaching he can give you. It might be a high % of your bankroll, but it is an investment, and it will pay for itself. You will make more money, you will get the skills to play higher buyins, and hey it is fun to learn, especially from someone that knows so much." -J.M. (Switzerland)
