I began playing in 2007 after playing in some homegames at the time I was studying mathematics at university. As a game that seemed simple to learn but hard to master, poker quickly caught my attention. I busted through a few $20 deposits online before really taking the game seriously and studying the concepts in greater detail. In the beginning I played many STT tournaments because the more mathematical nature of those games appealed to me at the time. Initially I thought that the complexity of deeper stacked games didn't lead to any nice and simple solution, and unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) there isn't. While deep stacked cash is very much an art form there is a whole lot that a solid theoretical understanding can do to improve your winrate substantially.

Due in large part to doing a huge amount of work away from the tables I managed to improve my NLHE cash game skills to the point where I was crushing HSNL live games and competing with the regulars in the MSNL games online. After taking a bit of a break from online poker following the Aussie Millions in early 2010 I focused on live poker for a few months with my best month being a 30K profit mostly playing 5/10 and 10/20. When I play online I am mostly playing 2/4 to 5/10 no limit cash games and I am actively trying to work on my game to make the move up to the higher stakes online.

I started to coach poker in late 2009 and the experience has definitely helped improve the games of my students and also my own game. Throughout 2009 and 2010 I worked as a tutor while studying postgraduate mathematics and the teaching experience in that context really improved my poker coaching skills. Learning how to teach from professionals in the education field definitely improved the quality of my coaching.

My greatest strength is in poker theory and it is the area in which I think I can help people the most. Have a look at the “Running the streets” series for an example of my teaching style and the sort of content that could potentially be expanded on along with more standard topics. Lessons in the form of video review, theory discussions and database review can be done. I can also be contacted on skype and via email/PM in-between sessions if you have any questions.
