A little about me

My name is Michael Newman, I am 25 years of age and I am from Perth, Western Australia. I have lived in Perth my entire life but love traveling and have visited a lot of Europe, Asia and the USA in recent years. I graduated university in 2008 with a degree in Business and have played poker professionally since without ever entering the full time work force.

I have coached over 50 people, predominantly for full ring and six maxcash games and have turned many small winning players into crushers of their respective games. One of my most successful students whom I no longer coach on a regular basis is “pwnchizzle”. He currently plays between 1-2 and 3-6 FR on FTP with great results.

About my coaching

Coaching since Black Friday has dropped off significantly so I have dropped my coaching prices in relation to this demand switch. I coach using a variety of different methods:

Live sweat: I watch you play between 4-8 tables with teamviewer and skype and help walk you through a typical session. I will ask you why you might take certain lines in specific situations and try to plug your leaks, typically giving advice at the end of the session.

Video review: I watch a video you have made playing a typical session so there is no pressure of having a coach watching over your shoulder. Together we take the time to analyse each specific spot to work on the most profitable line versus different player types. I also try to inform you of spots where you may be missing value.

Hand history review: During your regular play you make a conscious effort to save hands in which you find you were lost, we compile a large amount of these and spend a session reviewing these specific hands, talking about the options available to you and where you went right or wrong.

About my play

I play under the name “Newmanmi” on FTP and “NewmanAus” on most other sites and can typically be found playing anything between 1/2 and 25/50 with the majority of my play coming at mid stakes holdem. I play between 20k and 100k hands each month with a mix of regular, rush, table starting, FR and 6m poker.

My video series

I have currently produced two FR video series for deuces cracked, my first series Under Newmanagment was primarily a theory based 8 part series.

My second series, Full Ring King, focused on live play with the majority of the videos following my play at mid stakes 6 tabling on FTP. I discussed each interesting hand while focusing on exploiting leaks each player type. During the series I employ a loose aggressive but fundamentally sound game.
