Your typical "after seeing Moneymaker win the main event" story, I studied my ass off at this game. I've been playing LHE (heads-up and 6max) full time since 2007, quickly going from $5/10 to playing games as high as $1k/2k by fall of 2008. I've amassed the most hands at $30/60 and $50/100 during my career. I attribute my biggest leaps of success to building a strong network of players and coaches to share information with (and perhaps some credit goes to my perfectionism/OCD mindset).
