My name is Ethan Brown (aka blumpster or blumpkin), and I'm currently an applied mathematics Ph.D. student at UCLA. I began playing small stakes limit holdem online in the summer of 2004 after I completed my undergraduate degree at MIT. I began to play poker more seriously, and eventually learned other non-holdem poker games. My main focus turned to seven card stud, where I was able to consistently beat the 10/20 and 20/40 games on PartyPoker, and this was where I built my bankroll. I liked the idea of seven card stud because there is more information revealed about players' hands and consequently many opportunties to use mathematical reasoning to discern optimal strategy. I soon became a regular poster in the Stud forum on 2+2 and learned Stud Hi/Lo and Razz. Now, I consider Stud Hi/Lo to be my best game and regularly play at the 30/60 limit online.

For coaching, my target student would be a low to mid-stakes player who knows most of the basics of whichever non-holdem game of interest, but wants to improve their game by learning from an experienced player. Coaching would probably consist of reviewing hand histories in detail and/or sweating online play, and could adapt on a case-by-case basis.

Although I do not have a lot of poker coaching experience, I have a lot of teaching experience (as a Teaching Assistant at UCLA in advanced undergraduate courses), and I am confident in my ability to improve the skills of my students.
