Background

My name is Nan and I am a 30 year old software engineer from Vancouver Canada. I started playing online poker in late 2009. After busting my initial $100 deposit at 4NL, I decided to take poker seriously and signed up with Deuces Cracked on Dec, 2009. At the end of 2010, I was playing cash games up to 2000NL and made over $100,000 after rakeback. To learn more about my background check out a post I made and my interview on Deuce Plays. Currently, I continue to play 400NL to 2000NL no limit holdem cash games in both full ring and 6 max while work a full time job. I’ve had another successful year in 2011(results), despite the downswing near the end.

Coaching

I have coached many students from micro to mid stakes after becoming a DC coach in the past year and I can proudly say that most of my long term students have became winning players at 200NL and beyond. Due to coaching and playing on both Euro and US facing sites, I’m familiar with how games play on most networks. My game involves treating each villain as an individual and develops a unique game plan for each villain. It’s only natural that my coaching plan is also unique and tailored towards each individual student. Having just moved from micro to high stakes recently, I can relate to most problems that students are facing with respect to improving their game. I am able to give them advice that’s proven to work not only for me but for my past students as well.

My coaching program is designed to revolutionize the student’s thought process and focus on the "why" instead of "how". I believe that learning how to play a hand in a specific situation is not helpful since each situation in poker is unique. I will instead teach you how to think and in turn you will be able to come up with the optimal play at the tables all by yourself. Usually we will start with video review or live sweats so that I can get a good idea of the strengths and weaknesses' in your game so that I won't teach you stuff you already know. Then I will help you plug your major leaks and build a solid foundation on which you can expand your game. Afterwards I will present theories that target the weakness in your game and aims to take expand your game to the next level, followed by more video/HH review/sweat to ensure that you are not only apply each concept correctly but can also put them all together and develop your own winning poker style. The end result is that you will be able to come up with the strategy to exploit each play at your table and maximize your profit facing both regulars and weaker players. I highly recommend anyone who is considering coaching to get multiple sessions as one session is not enough to have a significant impact on your game.
