I am 25 years old and have been "gambling" since the age of 13. When I was 12 my dad bought a pool table for our home and I fell in love with the game instantly. I played pool everyday all day for about 8 months, until I could beat nearly everyone in my surrounding area. I began travelling around Canada to play tournaments at age 13, and it was then I got introduced to "gambling with an edge". I had played multiple matches with bets exceeding $1000.00 before I was 14 years old.
I continued to play pool throughout my teens and was finally introduced to poker in the back room of a pool hall when I was 19. I played poker off and on for about 6 months and dropped it completely after that. A few years passed and while wasting time on YouTube I stumbled upon some poker videos made by "tuff fish". They were mainly hilarious, but I heard him mention a website called CardRunners in one of the videos, so I decided to check it out. I realized there was a lot more to poker than I had been exposed to in years past, and I was instantly intrigued by the online form of poker.
I made many failed attempts at micro-stakes, depositing over and over again. I eventually made some friends who were in a similar place to me in terms of their development as players, and that sparked a fire to study poker harder, with a more serious intent. A few months passed when I started beating 25NL 6max for a decent clip (5-6BB/100). I made even more online friends during this time, and one imparticular steered me towards heads up poker. I was drawn to the HU format from the very second I sat down. I really enjoyed all the new elements HU had to offer, and have played the vast majority of my poker hands at HU ever since.
These days I am playing mostly HU/6max at the 50-200NL levels and have worked with over 40 students to date. I currently offer some group coaching programs for players of all stakes and skill levels up to 100NL 6max/HU. I also offer 1-1 coaching and a discount to people interested in booking more than 3 sessions in advance. Below are recent graphs of my HU and 6max play at 50-200NL. "I have known Jo for about a year now and talk poker with him on a daily basis. He has a very solid understanding of the game and has helped me improve my game significantly. I'd recommend him to anyone looking to improve regardless of their current skill level." -DC member ALF
