My name is Rusty Brooks. I started playing limit holdem online in 2003, so I suppose I'm part of the Moneymaker effect. I played holdem exclusively for 2 years, live and online. I took a break in 2005 for several months and cashed out, to focus on my job and family (I had a new son and a new job). Someone owed me $60 and they opted to pay me on Full Tilt instead of in cash, so I figured I'd just donk around playing something different. At this time I found razz and was really surprised at how badly everyone was playing it. I decided to study it and branched out into stud/8, omaha/8, and HORSE games. I've basically never looked back and now play whatever looks good among stud, stud/8, razz, omaha/8 or mixed games.
I have put 1000's of hours of study into the theoretical and mathematical aspects of poker, which apply to all forms of poker, not just stud, but also the practical considerations which vary from game to game, and table to table, and live versus online. I can help you learn to use math and theory to your advantage both at the table, and away from the table while you're reviewing your sessions (you do review your sessions, right?!). I've written a great deal of poker software, and can help students set up and use my software tools as well as other commercially available software that can help them succeed at any level.
Students are not required to understand the mechanics of the game they want to learn. I can teach from the ground up. Or, I can help tie up any loose ends or resolve any problems you may have developed as a moderately experienced player.
I'm available for hand history reviews, live sweats via IM and/or Skype/TeamView/etc, discussion of available poker literature, or brain storming about any particular facet of poker theory, software & simulation, bankroll considerations, and poker lifestyle.
