And then life happened

2013-04-08 04:48 PM

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last post, and a lot has happened. It looks like I am going to have to put my poker goals on the back burner for the time being, as my wife has just lost her job (she found out while we were on vacation, which really did suck!). Anyway, my spare hours are going to go into helping her job hunt, and keeping her motivated for the foreseeable future, leaving little time over to pla ... (continued)

The focus on learning

2013-04-08 01:17 AM

I have been running pretty poorly lately and this has resulted in my playing bad too. I am going to take a little break and start to work on learning more effectively. I will use this blog to chronicle what I am working on, how I plan to achieve it, and how I will know if I succeed. The 1st goal(s) I have is to not barrel with too wide a range or make check-raises with no equity if called. I think these are 2 o ... (continued)

Tournament vs. cash game at 2013

2013-04-03 08:17 AM

Hi everybody! I am a young poker player from a small country named Estonia. I used to be a tournament player and I played cash game occasionally, but now I am starting to notice, that it is easier to be a winning player at cash games, rather than tourneys. Competition is getting stronger and stronger and even final tables at some micro limit tourneys are full of very decent players. I started blogging few we ... (continued)

Step 1 - Win 15 buyins in 2NL on Stars

2013-04-02 07:32 PM

Step 1 – win 15 buyins ($30) on PokerStars playing No Limit Texas Hold’em Short Handed (6max) Cash Games. I want to get back into the game at the bottom and move my way up step by step. I like the idea of proving that I am a winning player at every level. The first step is stated about. My starting Bankroll on Stars is $200 so technically (using a 30 buyin minimum bankroll management), I could play 5NL (0 ... (continued)

Pregame routine suggestions?

2013-04-01 09:49 PM

As the clever title suggests, I’m looking for a more structured warm up routine. Lately, I’ve been finding myself not playing my best at the beginning of sessions and I think that it’s partially due to a lack of a regular routine. I usually sit down with a glass of water, close all my browser windows except my Pandora, sit some tables and look for action. Sometimes I browse poker forums or review a HH ahead ... (continued)

March review - back on the cash games

2013-03-31 05:26 PM

Well, I have just finished my last session of the month and have booked a really pleasing first month back at cash games. Cleared just under 3k profit including rakeback at 4.33 bb/100. Really solid results over nearly 45k hands, including rakeback I made $125 a day. I think for my first month back at cash this is pretty good, and I hope to only get better. 100NL is soft – there is a lot of very bad regs, ... (continued)

Is it possible to be a £1-£1 Pro?

2013-03-29 05:52 PM

Hmmm. So although it was only four days long, this last week at work has prompted me to ask “Could I realistically be a Pro poker player playing £1-£1?” I’m guessing that 90-95% of answers will be “No.”, but why is that? For starters the fact that a lot of players (me included) will be thinking that to be pro you’d have to be playing at higher levels with £2-£5 maybe being the minimum requirement, possibly £1-£2 ... (continued)

The beginning......(not quite but near enough)

2013-03-24 11:39 PM

Hey all, I’d like to begin by saying that I’m officially over my breakup with my ex Playboy bunny wife, and I am okay with the Mercedes and the beach front apartment being repossessed but that would be a lie. I’ve never been married, I own a Vauxhall Corsa and I live in a rented room in a shared house in leafy Surrey. The point of the first sentence was to make you read on and hopefully subscribe to what ... (continued)
