There's Blood On The Tables
Right now I haven't been able to sleep for quite some time so I decided to try this thing called a Poker Blog. To get things off the ground I originally started playing 6 Max table mindlessly 12-tabling, albeit winning [although I didn't actively think of my game], but then I was lucky enough to find this site. Watching some of Tubasteve's videos with Nowhere man I was able to get my game "from the ground up" [pun intended] to the point where it dramatically grew exponentially. At any rate, I quickly progressed to 50NL>100NL>200NL but mostly I stuck to 4 or 6 tabling 100NL or 200L when the games were profitable.
At the current moment in time however I'm gravitating between 50/100/200/400 NL HU when I can and lots of MTTs. I love both aspects of them very much, but I keep ending up at the MTTs more so than not. To make a long story when I have chosen to run MTTs rather than HU I've been able to log an appropriate amount of volume, which is really good because that's been one of my goals for quite some time but unfortunately I got sick over the winter and I didn't play poker for approximately 3 months or so.
My BR is currently 8.1K which is more than enough to do low stakes MTTs and/or cash. However I find myself constantly having to withdraw my winnings in order to pay bills and such, which is great. It's just that I've been trying to push it back over 10K and then over 15k as I did in the past, but that will come with time. Patience is a really great virtue in this game. Too many people burn out or aren't able to run through the endless skirmishes that happen and give in to tilt and a slew of other reasons.
Simply put, I'd like to move my MTT game to midsteaks and get my bankroll first over 20K, then over 40K, and I know this is possible by the end of the year I just need to add volume when needed. Whilst that goes on I'd like to keep adding HU games whenever they seem profitable or I feel in the mood for them.
Yesterday I was able to log 66 tournaments, 14 of them being SNGs but I count them nonetheless. My deepest runs were 21st and 22nd respectively, which I guess isn't so bad. I wound up playing almost 12 hours, which is longer than my average day but I had a few deep runs. The last 7 days I've played MTTs, I've made the Final 3 tables 10 times, Final 2 tables 5 times, and Final Table once. I'm pretty happy about the consistency for one, but I'm just so damn competitive that if I'm not in the Final Table I end up thinking everything's absolute failure. Don't give me wrong, I'm extremely realistic, and I do know that the cards sometimes hinder your goals [which is why I preach patience to myself constantly], its just that I want it so bad I can taste it. When there's blood in the water the sharks are coming.
I know that as long as I keep logging the time, and putting in ample volume, everything will take care of itself. I just need to stay motivated, keep my eye on the prize, and everything will be fine. Oh, and before I forget I got a pic of my new setup.
I know it might seem overkill, but it really isn't. I'm just glad that I
finally got it set and I'm able to use it how I want too. Anyhow, time to get some Zs, good
luck at the tables!
