Going golfing, thinking baseball, hate poker

Going to write a quick blog before I head out for an afternoon round of golf, really hoping I can break 90 today. I've been playing really poorly recently which is worrying seeing as my golf prop bet is coming to a close and I'm going to need to shoot 85 or lower to win it I think. Hopefully my game will start coming together.

With MLB trade deadline fast approaching, my favourite team and my favourite player seem to be at the center of all the talk, the Astros Roy Oswalt. I've been think about places that I think would be good for him to go, because nobody deserves a chance in the post season more than Roy. I hope dodgers or phils, to be honest anywhere but cardinals and yankees, but seeing as the rumor is the yanks will be going after Cliff Lee (not that they actually need him in their rotation) in the off season then I don't see much chance of either of those happening. I just hope whatever we do we get some major league ready talent and can be competative next year in a weak division.

My poker has been going terribly, withdrawing my roll at the end of last year might have been the biggest mistake i've made ever. I'm now hoping to build a row through frequent deposits and a little bit of small stakes mtt's and sng's. hopefully by the end of the year i'll have a more comfortable roll and will be able to start playing bigger mtt's, sng's and hopefully start getting out on the live UK circuit. Been playing a bit live recently at a casino in Brighton, it's usually full of drunk fish, so it's pretty easy to clean up.

Targets, Golf and Happy Birthday America

Usually I dislike target and goals when it comes to poker, but due to my lack of volume recently I feel as if I need to set one to get back on track so...

By september 20th 2010 (this is the day i start university) I will have played 100k hands. this is a realistic target I think if i'm dedicated (which i probably won't be) I'm hoping to put it some MTT volume as well, I much prefer grinding MTT's over cash, just seem to be more to accoomplish.

I'm off golfing again today, I shot 97 on wednesday which was a bit of a disaster after a front 9 of 47 seeing as the back 9 of the course i play is considerabley easier and shorter. Was frustrating but I need to keep working on it, 90 and under is again the target for the day.

Happy 4th of July, to those in the US. everyone else have a great day on the felt or whatever you decided to do with your sunday.

So i've been gone a while, what did i miss?

Hey fellow DC bloggers,

I really need to start writing more regularly 1. becuase i love writing and 2. becuase i find it a great outlet for my thought process.

My poker volume has dropped dramatically in the last 4 months. My guess is that i've probably only played about 1k hands in that time, i've been really busy with other interests but once I got back to university in september i'll be able to grind more. Of these 1k hands i've been losing, playing well but ultimately losing which is a shame but i know it's just varience getting the better of me.

I've been really busy with other things really, mostly golf. I've really turned into golf fanatic, I always liked golf but for some reason i've just started taking more of an interest these last few months, my scores have been progressively coming down for 110 to around about 95 where i am now. hopefully by september i'll be looking at 82 which is my ulitmate goal, these score have been impressive due to my long game (which is usually my strongest part being really weak recently due to a nagging knee and back injury) but my putting is improving with every round which is nice to see. Any DC golfers out there? what handicaps and stuff do people play off? anyone got any recommendations for drivers and fairway metals i could really use new ones? favourite courses? I played at Harbour Town, SC in January which was a great experience.

More soon, HK

A follow up

In my last blog I discussed a hand I played at 50nl HU, The result of which was my villian jamming with A high. and me taking down the pot.

Since then i’ve played very little poker, which always bums me out but hey sometimes life gets in the way, I will probably be grinding SNG’s and Steps on stars and FTP for a while as i’m finding cash games pretty boring right now.

Been watching a lot of poker shows recently though which has been cool, HSP, 2M2MM, PCA, EPT and NAPT all in the last few weeks, especially enjoyed the live broadcast of the NAPT, stars are doing a great job with their tours which is great for poker in the mainstream.

A difficult decision...

So i’m new to DeucesCracked, but i’ve known about and checked the site out alot in the past so I decided to give it a test and see what came out of it.

So a few details, I’m Harry, I play NLH and PLO (HU and 6max Mostly) on stars and fulltilt. Honestly I suck, but I’m trying to improve, BR management has been a long term problem, I’m a bit of a gambler so tend to take shots way too often.

I was playing a session of HU NLH on stars and had an interesting hand unfold, now I don’t play much HU NLH so I felt a little bit uncomfortable in this hand.

Poker Stars $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold’em – 2 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

BB: $73.85
Hero (BTN/SB): $57.85

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BTN/SB with 7 Heart 7 Spade
Hero raises to $1, BB raises to $4, Hero calls $3

Flop: ($8.00) 3 Spade 3 Heart 8 Club (2 players)
BB bets $5, Hero raises to $10, BB calls $5

Turn: ($28.00) K Club (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

River: ($28.00) K Diamond (2 players)
BB bets $59.85 all in

Final Pot: $28.00

Now i’m faced with a tough decision. What would you do? Based on how the hand played? We had been playing for about 50 hands, I asked the villian if he would show if i folded but i got no response.

Hopefully i’ll get some feedback and i’ll discuss in the next blog the result of the hand.

Harry
