Nl1k

Just finished my first real nl1k session in like, 1.5 years or something and im very happy with my session overall. I think I overadjusted a bit vs 2 of the most aggro regs in some spots pre but I managed to run decent so thats fine.

I have been reading alot in the small stakes and some in the micro stakes forum last couple of days and there are a bunch of things that I have noticed; People rely way way to much on stats, they would develop 5x faster if they just shut down their HEM and played without it imo. One of the best things I picked up from Andrew (Baluga) was to be very aware of what happened around me at the table, timing tells, betsizing, game flow and that a 22/20 TAG isnt playing in the same way as every 22/20 TAGs, there´s actually a person behind a screen somewhere that thinks about poker in a way that no number ever will tell you.  Lastly one thing thats true for most players at midstakes to, there is no creativity left at all and everybody just bets the same amount as everyone else. I think its just because so many players watch these training site vids and learn alot from them but what happens to most players is that they dont develop their own strategy and they certainly never come up with anything new themself.

On my mental training; the other day I just realized how often I klick on the mouse between my decisions and in my quest for decluttering my mind I decided to stop doing that. I feel a bit more focused and most important alot calmer, so if ure reading this, try it for a couple of sessions.

I have played around 65h of poker in August and aiming for 150+ while the italians have vacation (no offense to italians :P )

At those stakes you playing HEM and stats are not that important as they are at microstakes.NL1k is a different world already, everybody there has more or less the same stats and high level of aggression.I don't play those stakes yet unfortunately.but have read a great book w/ title "Exploiting regulars".It's a really good, mindblowing read, you probably even have read it. The book focuses exclusively on NL600,unfortunately I don't remember the author but type title at "filecrop.com" and you'll find it.Best book and analysis I have ever read.
Cheers

I am not sure I agree tbh. I think that alot of players at micro/lowstakes dont even need stats. If you dont use stats it forces you to think alot more and to be absolutely focused. Also it doesnt make you into a robot wich i find that most players play like at those stakes. And they dont really know some super important concepts, or actually, they might know the concept but they are so comfortable with generalizing and backing it up with stats. Id say that stats only tell half the story and if you dont learn that at lowstakes, you need to learn them at higher stakes, and that can be very costly. Worst case scenario you might now even get to higher stakes.

At microstakes lot of players have pretty many exploitable tendencies like being too tight, too loose, calling down 3-bets too often, etc. If you are 1-tabling,it's easy to recognize those tendencies and play out your opponents, you can be focused and develop faster - from this point of view I agree. The problem is you NEED to multitable those stakes otherwise it takes forever to build up a roll. While multitabling however, the only way to recognize each player's biggest weaknesses is to have a HUD running. You can't beat 6 tables without a HUD I think.
Or do you think it would be a better idea to apply a more aggressive BR management and move up in stakes a little bit one-tabling?Without a HUD?

sorry for the dealy in response here. A few things; you say that you cant play 2-3 tables to get out of micros quick. I dont agree, My mindset-coach has a routine where you should try and play 2-4 tables for a certain amount of time, not sure how long. And like 90% of the players that did this said they liked it more than multitabling And that they earned more or the same whilst beeing able to play longer sessions. The same was true for me when I moved up, never, never never played more than 4 tables. BR management etc is individual but if you are not living on poker like 30bi and a very flexible mindset for moving up or down in stakes is prob the best way to go for alot of people, that could be a very long discussion tho :)
