Maintaining A Blog And 50 HU

I have decided to take another shot at maintaining a blog. I am not sure what I will write about as I lead a lifestyle comparable to that of a monk. Not a baller monk either. More like one of the laid back, irrelevant ones who is a lot less disciplined and lazy like a Sloth (SlothMonk?). I am probably not quite that boring, but damn close, so I don't foresee many entries about my "real life," especially considering my "real life" is basically on the internet lol. Oddly enough my situation is quite enjoyable and I don't really sit around pondering the meaning of life or day dreaming of ways I could improve my own existence.

I did, however, experience a moment of reflection a while back. I was just sitting here, gazing out my office window when I noticed a man walking a small dog. I began to wonder: Could I be this guy? Could I lead a standard lifestyle as a 9-5er and a be dog owner? This thought was not super desirable at that moment and became even less desirable when the next image I saw was this portly man bending over, scooping up a large pile of dog shit, and discretely depositing it into his jacket pocket (is this normal?). This confirmed that I am no less interesting than the common man, and that I won't own dogs anytime soon. To summarize, I am just a huge internet poker nerd who is happy doing a lot of nothing :)

Onto the poker stuff, which is the main focus of this blog, although I may get side tracked now and then telling random stories. I play HU and 6m at the 50NL-200NL levels, winning at a decent clip across the board. I would say, like many others, that my main "leak" is volume. I just don't play enough hands in the run of an average month to call myself any sort of "grinder". For this reason I have decided to dedicate the rest of February to playing 50HU only and trying to play as many hands per day as I can stand. I know there will be a few people saying “WTF? WHY PLAY 50 FFS!” but I feel like I have to do something to get the hands in, and the month is coming to a close, so I don't have time for elaborate volume planning. I will likely have a better volume goal for March involving higher stakes. For February I just want to try and make the best of what I got and still try to pull off an acceptable month. I will post graphs and interesting hands here (hopefully on a daily basis). That's all I got for now. Peace.

P.S I am devising some new/affordable coaching offers for micro stakes players, so be on the look out for that!

I think the best thing to do for consistant volume is to set yourself a schedule or small daily targets like "I won't do X till I've played Y hands".

What about a ball hair monk?

In terms of increasing volume I like playing a little more each day (20-25%) until I reach my volume/day goal rather than going from playing 1k hands to 3k hands. Much more sustainable :)
