Multi-Entry MTT-s screwing MTT players?
Hey, I'm kind of bored so I figured I'd share my thoughts on these things.
Many, unlike me, seem to like these multi-entry tournaments. I'll try to give you an brief overview on why and how these affect our ROI-s. Keep in mind that I don't play MTT-s and know quite little about them and players who play them. I'm sure My logic is flawed in spots because of this and because I only spent around 10 minutes thinking about them before writing. Please correct me where I'm wrong and tell me what you think.
OK, in my opinion Multi-entries will impact MTT players quite a bit. First of all in my opinion regs are more likely to buy in multiple times compared to the fish. I assume that drunk people looking to have fun don't want to have 4 tables running. More regs and less fish. I think that this is a very obvious way that good players will end up being less profitable.
Secondly, assume that we're winning players, every additional buy-in will have a smaller value and will bring down the value of our previous buy-ins. Basically buying in for the second time means that there is one more person who will not lose money. I haven't put much thought into this but I think it's correct. Of course our entries will be merged once keeping them on separate tables becomes impossible and we will not lose chips. Due to chips changing value over the course of the tournament I think we'll still end up losing some $$$ in the long run.
I swear I had a third point but I forgot it =(. I'll think about this more tomorrow, what else do I have to do during school...
On the positive side multi-entries might lessen the variance of MTT-s in case you play when only a few tournaments are running just because you can get in more volume. I guess that the prize pools will be bigger as well thanks to this. I can't think of any other good sides to these other than that right now. If you come up with any other good sides then let me know through PM or comment on this post.
That's basically it for now. It seems to me that if possible playing with 1 buy-in will mean better ROI. I'm not sure how big the hit might be. If you can't get other tournaments going then your hourly will obviously increase by playing multiple buy-ins. Share your thoughts in comments and point out on where I'm wrong. There might come a second part to this but don't hold me for it. If I come up with something interesting tomorrow then I'll post again soon. I'm interested on doing some math on these so look out for that if I decide to post again.
Cliffs: Multi-entries will probably take down your ROI-s.
Oh yeah, I'm down about 50-60BI-s in my STT-s. Haven't moved down yet as I'm still comfortably rolled for my current games =). Gotta wake up early tomorrow, sry for the very brief explanation on the very few points that I brought up.
E: Fuck me, there are rush multi-entries going :S. Even rush multi-entry rebuys. Wow...

Do you get raked on the first buy in only?

No, you get raked every time. It'd be awesome if you only had to pay rake once :P. Maybe I sounded too critical on these things... I didn't take a lot of stuff into account etc. I still think that ROI-s will be slightly smaller from here on out but I'd guess that hourlies might increase.
Multi-entry rush MTT w/rebuys sound really scary, degen(?) and awesome :D.
