Bye standardized tests. Let's go platinum!
After much postponement and delayed study, I finally took national boards part II for dental school. This is likely the last standardized test (and among the last few overall) that I'll ever have to take again. Assuming I stay on track, come June 12th I'll be a dentist. That is +EV.
While playing around on Stars during Jan and Feb amidst my studies, I noticed that I have the ability to keep Platinum Star pace if I really focus. I made it to Gold this month before Valentine's Day while juggling poker and studying, so I think I have a shot! Admittedly, I'm suckered in a little bit by the lure of VIP status and other marketing, but on the other hand, I think it'll be good for me. I showed a marginal positive winrate over the first two months at 50NL with a LOT of room for improvement, so I think that with continued devotion to experience and learning, the added volume of shooting for VIP rewards will help me in my ascent.
Also, I'll be back on the forums and on this blog without distraction. I don't know if you actually read this blog anyway, especially boring posts like this one. I'll try to work on that.
