getting smashed, and i don't mean drunk

Hai guys.

I try to avoid making results-oriented posts, as I don’t think you care how much I make or lose, but this seems like a worthwhile topic.

I moved up to 50NL last week and have played 3,081 hands at that level to date. It hasn’t been going very well! I lost nearly 7 buy-ins and am running at -11.18 PTBB/100. Notably, I don’t think I’ve been running well, either. PT3 reports that I have also been running at exactly 7 buy-ins below my all-in EV during this same sample. In other words, by Sklansky bucks I should be break-even over this stretch (winning after rakeback), but I seem to have lost almost every encounter since moving up.

Boo!

I started a thread in the DC forums about what to do when you’re in my spot. Please read it, or comment if you can, as I think it’ll help plenty of people when they move up and lose a bunch right away (like me!):

THREAD— Advice Needed; when you move up and get smashed

I didn’t feel too lost at these stakes, but I did notice that people are 3betting pots like freaking crazy. It really caught me off guard. I’ve started adjusting, but I’m not comfortable yet, and for now, I’m going to have to move back down to 25NL and rebuild.

That’s all to report. I haven’t played much lately, mainly due to school and video games but also being slightly discouraged by my awful results. I want to rebuild my game strategically and emotionally and get back to the play soon!!!
