A fresh start
Everyone that knows me also knows that I plan for a fresh start multiple times a month, this is caused by me having a hard time sticking to any plan. Lately a lot has changed for the better and this time I really believe I can make a fresh start and don’t have to look back anymore.
I recently moved back to the Netherlands after having lived in Ireland for over a year. Allthough I was not really feeling homesick but did not enjoy myself either. Somehow my days just went by for a year without me doing a lot of productive things. Now that I live in Holland again I feel good, and I really want to work on and with my game every day.
Here are the things that I will try and do from now on, some of which I have been doing for some time now.
1 Exercise almost every day
2 Eat healthy foods and don’t drink much soda
3 Have fun with my girlfriend
4 play poker
5 Work on my poker game
6 Coach microstakes players
1 Exercise almost every day,
I was a very active youg kid until I turned 10, after that I got more lazy as to a point where I am overweight and don’t have a lot of stamina. Offcourse stamina is important for poker, but poker also makes it hard to really work on it. I mean we are all just sitting in a chair all day long clicking on multiple tables. Since a week now I have been exercising almost everyday on my hometrainer and I will continue to do this. Offcourse when the weather outside gets better I will begin running and cycling outside.
2 Eat Healthy foods and don’t drink much soda,
This actually is a tough one for every fatguy, and for me it also gets harder when really trying to focus on poker. Healthy food takes time to prepar and I just want to grind and order a pizza. Well not anymore, I am going to take the time to make healthy dinners and this should really improve my stamina and overall health a lot. I have been doing this for the last 2 weeks and so far so good. About the soda, well I love the taste of a nice cold coke, but hey too bad only Cola Zero and water for me now.
3 Have fun with my girlfriend,
I have lived abroad for just over a year flying back to see here every 2weeks or once a month. I have also not been a great boyfriend because I didn’t really feel like doing fun stuff a lot of the time. I was just not feeling great, being overweight, being tired because of my messed up sleeping schedule and who knows what else caused me to be no fun at all. Well this is changing and I will continue to make this change happening. We have been to the theatre last weekend to see Avatar 3D(nice movie), and I will continue to do fun stuff with her for sure.
4 Play poker,
Hehe finally we are going to talk about poker. Well poker is the way I earn my living so I need to do this also. Like I wrote before I really want to grind since I live here so that is what I will do on most days. I have played 100NL and 200NL mainly last year, but like I mentioned I did not do a lot of productive things in that period. In my fresh poker start I will start out playing 200NL being a bit underrolled. This is not a big concern because I beat the games and I also don’t have any trouble moving down when I need to. Each month I will post some goals and if I don’t reach them I will give away free coaching lessons.
5 Work on my pokergame,
This is pretty amazing, actually this is embarresing. There are so many ways that one can work on his pokergame available to me and I dont utilize any of them. I can watch videos, talk to good players, play a lot, get coaching, analyze my game, and probably some others. I have just been too lazy, I have watch probably not more than 10videos in 2009 never analyzed a session, not responded on to many strat. posts etc. I really need to work on this. Well this has also changed a little bit over the past couple of weeks and I started to watch some videos. This blogging idea actually is from episode 1 of Never Tell Me the Odds.
On point 5 I could use some help from you guys, I need some direction in how to go about improving myself. I will try and post more on the DC strat. forums for sure and any other tips are very welcome.
6 Coach microstakes players,
Coaching really is awesome. It is very nice to meet so many different people and be able to teach them something. I don’t want to talk to much about coaching but I do want to say that I really enjoy it, and also that I am looking to start a group coaching program together with another coach.

Don't want to make it worse for you, but Coca cola zero is almost as bad as the normal one. GL with everything, and you missed one hell of a snow period!

If you mean unhealthy yes, if you mean fat making no. I just drink it sometimes, and it is a good way to not get fat by soda. Surely it will kill you if you drink it a lot :P, bastards.
I have been in the Netherlands sometime during the snow period, have been stuck in traffic numerous times.

Hi TheLoon!
I like your plans! Getting in a healthy shape is very good for your pokergame too! I'm new here and i see you are coaching midstakes players. You do that online with mikogo/msn or in real life? In what city do you live if it is the last option?

Hi NLpronk,
I coach microstakes and some smallstakes. If you play 100NL or lower I am willing to coach you.
I use skype and teamviewer, and sometimes skype and mikogo. I have never done reallife coaching.

I play 50nl, as swingy as hell. Previous month $1100 profit this month $800 down. I just want to beat these stakes and than reach my final goal...becoming a 100nl regular this year. I will first try to helm myself with the videos on this forum, otherwise i will contact you soon!

Hey TheLoon, I was wondering if you can PM me you're skype username... currently looking for a coach for the near future and since you're European we will be in almost the same timezone. Currently playing at 25 NL
