Ok changed my answer. Check and plan on calling 1/2 pot size bet on the turn or river but not both. Villian is pretty tight. He's not going to bet both streets with something you beat. He MAY try to get one small bet some something like TT/99 on the river after you check to him twice.

Readless, I assume a 19/14's 3bet calling range in position is roughly 99-JJ, AQ/AJs, maybe KQs. I also c/c turn or river for around 1/2 - 3/5 psb, thinking there's more value in that than in hoping TT/99 calls a turn bet.

In other words, agree with eselspiele. Thanks for doing this, looking forward to the discussion.

There is no value in betting the turn, as we will get called by Ax type hands. Our hand now is a bluff catcher and could get value from bluffs, TT, 99. So for me is a check on the turn and most likely a checkfold is the best

Only problem with a check here is that we are turning our hand face up and if villain is a good player he can comfortably bet turn and river and we fold most of our range. So to balance this we need to consider how we play AX and our trips here.

I could make arguments for everything here, but with what we are given I think we bet turn and if he is willing to turn his hand into a bluff, well done

Agree with jubinator. Bet the turn.

I'm not too concerned with villain exploiting us if he's a 19/14 so I like check/folding the turn. Betting for value is too thin and I don't expect this villain to turn 99 into a bluff here. If we are in fact ahead, I expect to get to showdown for free a large % of the time. If we're beat, I expect him to bet, meaning we can give up happily.

Our range can also be balanced by checking our stronger hands. I think that is a superior way to balance our range in this situation because by showing weakness we may get a crying call or induce a bluff. Also, How worried should we be at balancing our ranges at 5NL?

Great hand. Thanks Tac

Sorry for coming back late to this hand - just returned from the local casino where I lost a 2k EUR pot with middle set against flopped straight. Pretty pissed of. :)

OK, regarding the hand, velvia and Tecmo pretty much nailed it. His range for calling pre AND calling the flop is pretty much 77-JJ and occasionally (rarely) sth. like QJ.

As velvia mentioned, our hand is a bluffcatcher as we won´t get called again by hands like 88/99 (I´m not afraid of the A!!), so we can´t bet for value.

But as well, I don´t see any hands that this Villain would turn into a bluff (I never see him betting 88/99), so we can´t c/c either.

So, what finally remains is actually c/f. This doesn´t mean we "give up", we still could be well ahead of his flop-calling-range, it just means we are behind his turn-betting-range.
