Healthcare for dog
Today my dog wounded himself to the leg and he didnt even jump from the balcony, he just tried to catch his toy and he got hurt to the rear leg... weird stuff.
Well , bottom of the story is I went to veterinarty cause he had apparently something wrong with one toe^^
- Consultation : 60$
- X-ray : 97$ :O
And nothing is done yet. To summarize I would have 2 choices
1 - Kind of stuff to keep the toe in place, 1 day stay there, 1 month recovery, possible infections cause its banded for the whole time.. put the leg in bag when its wet, etc , and it could occur again, cause its not brokens bones, its the tissue that hold bone/muscles together (I play with him and take daily walk, so chances are it would be worthless solution.
COST : 600$
2 - Amputation. Basically he just get one of his toe off, might look weird but wont be that much a bad looking thing. Recovery would take a few days and it wont risk to happen again. (well not for this specific non-existing toe)
COST : 1000$
Im gonna ask a girl friend of mine, she is working in the domain of helping people with back problems, pains, etc (dunno english word)
To be honest, the dog seem fine, doesnt walk actually on it (barely) and he wanted to take a walk tonight still... Im almost tempted to give his medicine to reduce the swelling, wrap the thing up and let it heal itself..
Im not cheap, I just dont like putting 600$ is something that might not work and 1000$ to get a single toe remove.. Dont mistake me, I really like my dog.
So what do I do ? rly ?
Edit : He 10 years old

Dogs can withstand a lot of pain, but it doesnt mean they arent hurt. Dont use his mannerisms as your judge. He will likely always want to go for a walk. I'd get a 2nd opinion from a different vet if you really want, but trust someone with real experience.

Definitely second Tecmo's advice.
