A winning day... Just!
Well yesterday (day 10) is barely worth talking about poker wise.
I forgot to mention in my last blog that on Day 8 after the dentist I went out and bought my dream guitar. I was walking past a guitar store with nothing to do and I went in and looked around. I'd just had the amazing jam with my band the night before and decided if I found something I really liked (I'd just had a ~$6k week after all) that I'd buy it.
I looked around for a little bit and people were playing guitars everywhere. I picked up a Cole Clark guitar but didn't really feel very connected to it. The tone wasn't right for my tunes or my voice. I played a cheap Maton (best Australian acoustic guitars) and it was nice but not the one I wanted. So I went to the front desk:
'Do you guys ever stock or are you able to order in the Maton Messiah? I know they're pretty rare..." I enquired.
'We actually have one right here' He pointed to the shop window. 'We keep it up here as it's too expensive to have on the floor'.
I looked up to see a Messiah shining above all the other guitars. 'That's pretty cool, but I'm actually looking for a specific one, the Messiah em100c'.
'Dude, that IS the em100c'. It was funny the way he emphasised the 'is'. He sounded like a true stoner. He stood right up on the desk he works from and started pulling it down for me. I stared in amazement. This was the exact model I had been looking for.
He allowed me to use the 'JamCube' which is a sound proof room you can rock out in and really hear the acoustic of your guitar. We (the guitar and I) jammed for 15 minutes and were then evicted by another clerk who needs to use the amps in there.
I could see my attendant walking towards me. 'I'll take it' I said before he could mutter words from his open mouth.
He cut me a great deal (25% off; price matching from what I'd found online) and gave me a free case.
So yesterday I jammed out with a friend for a few hours on it and then played golf for 3 hours or so. I didn't do any fitness because golf was my exercise for the day. I played about 40 minutes of poker and made ~$800 then had an early night.
Today was kinda crazy. I'm heading to Good Vibes Festival tomorrow and knew I wanted to do a big session to make up for the fact I won't play much tomorrow and probably not any on Sunday.
I had two sessions today. After my afternoon session I was down $1300 and kinda pissed as I'd run ~$1500 or so below EV and played fairly poorly in the end (was up $600 initially) that led to some spew. I've been running fairly well this month and on a scale from 0-10 (0 being running horrible, 5 standard and 10 being amazing) I'd say I've been running at about an 8 and playing around a skill/focus level of 9. This afternoone I ran at a 2 and played 3.
I went to dinner with my 2 sisters, my brother inlaw and a friend of ours at a nice Japanese place and we had some good laughs in preparation for tomorrow. After coming home from that I decided I would play some more to make up for tomorrow and try turn today into a winning day. I swung down another $1000 and was down $2350 at one point. I'd been running some bluffs vs people I shouldn't have and started to realise I was playing against a bunch of morons. After that I decided I should just ABC it up for a bit. I went on a nice heater and ended up ~$200 for the day after 7.5k hands.
It felt pretty good to battle through.
