Brag: Omaha HU Heater

Totally been neglecting DC recently and in particular this blog, but I figured I’d brag about my PLO HU heater. I started playing 100PLO HU about a month ago and since have been getting into the game properly. It’s kinda funny how I got into it actually.

An acquaintance of mine had been playing that game and stake for a while and he’s absolutely awful at it. I figured I’d play with him and after some big sessions I was hooked. Since then, I’ve played a little over 20k hands, which isn’t much of a sample at all, but I have been doing well over that stretch and I feel really in tune with the game atm.

Whoever said this game was all about getting the best of a 60/40 wasn’t talking about HU, because in HU the game is much more about positional leverage and a really strong understanding of reading and manipulating ranges. A lot of the skill comes from knowing your opponent and figuring exactly when he turns his hand face up, because whoever turns his hand face up first will get killed, especially when deep, and it actually happens quite a lot in this game, more so in Hold’em despite there being 4 cards.

The only problem is that a lot of bad regs have started denying me action due to my PTR graphs and it’s just really annoying finding an opponent who isn’t a short stacker and the process of sitting around for ages only to find really dull opponents.

Anyway, here’s some graphs:

That’s for the year so far in just HU PLO. 2010 has been pretty great, after rakeback, bonuses, other games, staking deals, I’m probably up about $12k. It feels pretty good to be on such a good stretch over a short period of time. That feeling when you’re on a heater is just unmatched by anything in the world (then again, so is the feeling when you’re on a downswing, and who knows how big the next one will be.)
