PLO Style

Well almost. I ran so incredibly hot in my last session today I almost feel bad about it. HEM has me at 10BI’s over EV today. Honestly I think most of them were pretty standard spots, especially against the maniacs I was playing against. Getting it in on the flop in PLO is like rolling an 8-sided die to see if your spell of slumber will work so you can kill all the orcs and make it out of the caverns. Or something.

I broke pretty much even for my first 2 sessions today totaling about 1100 hands. Decided to put in one more session tonight. 45 min., 300 hands, 8BI’s…TYVM. After last weekend when I dropped 18 BI’s I’m hype to be pretty much back where I was. I put the grind on this week and was able to make it happen.

Only one guy got got a little mouthy tonight and said “You’re too good” after I took down a 900bb pot all-in preflop 3ways with JT89ss. He’s a tough player and has taken lots of my moneys recently, so he was basically calling me a luckbox. Fair enough. :)

I’m pretty sure I can’t fold that given the action. I’m 400bbs deep with CO (mouthy guy) no read on MP, CO is a standard LAGGY reg, BTN is a super LAGGY almost maniacal but not getting out of line reflop.

MP opens, CO 3bets, BTN 4bets I cold call in SB with JT89ss (I’m 400bbs deep with CO), MP folds, CO 5bets pretty much all in… I mean at this point I’m almost always (like 98.9% of the time) up against AA** in 2 spots and I have one of the best hands to have in that situation. I’m 40% 3ways! I don’t have the hand on this computer, maybe I’ll post it for posterity later, it’s one of the biggest pots I’ve taken down at PLO100.

I got my last of my money in on the flop and didn’t make the winning hand until the turn, so HEM has me at -ev for that hand, I hate that stat. I hate it when I’m running bad and I hate it when I’m running good. It can be a crutch or a cross, like oh you didn’t play good you ran good, or oh woe is me I run so bad! I need to figure out how to get it off my “session” stats.

So it was good week. I’m putting in more volume, like 800 hands a day. Winning pretty consistently over all my sessions. I’m only at like 27000 hands so far in these games but I’m winning at like 20bbs/100, fwiw. If I’m anywhere close to this when I hit 100K hands this summer I’ll be moving up to 1/2 right on schedule.

I do need a coaching session though. I’ll be hitting you up soon, John! I went on a 30BI heater over like 3500 hands after my last session, more of that would be nice.

Sunday is Daddy/Daughter day. I won’t be playing any poker until after Ruby is in bed. GL to everybody in the Sunday 4MIL!…and everything else.
