Making micro progress again
My game is coming back into line now, still quite swingy but I feel more confident in the areas that I want to work on now. I am actually quite shocked at the nature of some of the leaks in my game. Serious faults when deciding what boards to C-bet, along with bet sizing faults that are magnified on later streets.
I have begun to realise that these things I was getting away with at Stars, owing to the nature of the player pool - I think they are more much fit or fold postflop or so shortstacked these mistakes were not being highlighted.
I've always felt that you should be very careful before you write any hand off as a cooler, and I'm even more certain in that now after seeing the effects of this so much recently. In terms of results - I played a fair few hands this weekend, and I made a small profit.
Sunday was the worst though, I didn't start my session until 10pm and by midnight I was stuck 5 buyins and on definite tilt, but I was sat at a really soft table with three fish who were giving action.
I had a choice to make, quit the game and take the hit or get my head together and play it right. So I put on some chillout music, focussed on keeping myself grounded and patient and started observing my thoughts with a lot more detachment. All the Tommy Angelo stuff.
I'm really pleased that I turned it around and managed to get 4 buyins back, it was good to recognise the tilt and control it effectively.
Last night was a bit different, I played well for the most part I think, apart from one mistake where I got re-raised on a K53tt with AKo and a backdoor nut flush draw. I made a decision based purely on my hand strength instead of the opponent and wan't at all surprised when he showed me a flopped set.
