My mini vacation weekend
This past weekend my parents and I went on a little vacation to Long
Beach, WA. It was kind of a mothers day thing. We left at about 5:30pm
on Friday night and drove all the way there. About a five hour drive.
My dad's secretary at work had a beach house that she let us borrow for
the weekend. We got there around 10:30 or so. We went to bed cause the
drive sucked. It rained the whole way over.
Saturday morning, we got up and went to a breakfast place. After
that we went clam digging at about 9:30am. The weather was perfect, but
the clamming was so so. I got about eight clams in the matter of five
minutes, then couldn't find anymore for the next half hour. My dad
grinded out seven clams. The clams were pretty small too. It's really
too late in the season to be clam digging. Me being as out of shape as I
am, through out my back and could barely dig anymore. We stopped
digging and had 15 clams between the two if us. Only one limit. Pretty
lame, but oh well, I wasn't gunna kill myself out there like last
time.

We went and ate lunch at a random bar/restaurant in Long Beach. I
had a bowl of clam chowder and the three of us shared a pound and a half
of steamer clams. I refuse to eat anything other than seafood when I
go to the coast. After that we went on a couple short hikes to a couple
lighthouses. It was fun, great views of the Columbia River mouth and
the coastline. We hurried back to Long Beach so we could watch the
Kentucky Derby. We went back to the bar we were at. I had $5 on Derby
Kitten. Obviously no luck. My second choice was Animal Kingdom, of
course I put no money on it... I like picking the long shots.
When the race was over, we drove across the bridge to Astoria. With
people unfamiliar with the town, Goonies and several other movies were
shot there. We drove by the jail that is in the beginning of the movie
and the Goonies house. Pretty underwhelming, but that's what I
expected. We went to the Astoria column. It was 164 steps up to the
top. (I counted) It was fun, very cool view from the top.

We headed back to Long Beach and ate at a restaurant and watched the
Mariner game. They got killed six to zero. My fish and chips were
really good though. Then we went back to the beach house and we all
went to bed at about 10:30.
Sunday we got up and my mom went and brought back McDonalds for
breakfast. After I ate, I took the bike that was at the house and rode
for about a half hour. It was a lot harder than I remember and when I
got back to the house, I felt like I was going to die. I was so out of
breath. It took me a few hours to recover. We left the beach house and
drove down past Astoria to Fort Clatsop. Where Lewis and Clark stayed
the winter while on the Pacific Coast. There was a little movie and
replica of the place they stayed in. It was interesting. After that we
drove to Seaside, Oregon. We ate lunch there. I had calamari, it was
so good. Maybe the best I've ever had? There was a super super hot
waitress serving us. Of course I'm too chicken to say anything. Why go
through the stress when nothing could ever happen with her living six
hours away. When we were finished eating, we walked around for a bit
then headed back home. The drive was really long and windy (like
curvy). I watched an episode of Mythbusters and Camelot on my laptop.
We finally got home and I was never so happy. (exaggeration)
RIGGGGGED!
