I need to get my act together and start making some money!

This morning started out with me looking over some hands.  I needed to pass some time before I went to my counselor appointment at 9am.  I need to start making enough money to make a living.  I'm relying on my parents as a crutch and I need to stop being dependent on others.  So over the next few days I'm going to try and get into contact with some people that I know that make a living playing poker and see what it really takes.  I'd like to have a goal in mind and stop kidding myself in that I can make a living playing a mediocre amount of poker at low stakes.  I'm going to add up all my bills that need to be paid each month and get a number in mind.  This month I kinda got behind because I didn't make money for about two and a half weeks.  I'm pretty much back into the flow of things and I've moved up to the $12 STT's as you already know.  If anyone that makes a living off of poker and knows what it really takes to make poker a career, you can PM me, comment below, anything.  If you would like to help a guy out, I would forever be grateful.

When I got home from my appointment I started playing poker immediately.  I played four sets.  Then I went golfing with my brother.  He got me a gift certificate for a free round for my birthday, so we decided to put it to use.  Weather was awesome and it's the nicest course in town.  The 17th hole is a par three with an apple shaped green. My brother decided to take a picture of me.

I proceeded to hit an awesome shot and make birdie, which is a first for me on that hole.  It's nerve racking with the island green. Overall I shot 101 on the day. Which is bad, but not awful for me.  It would help if I wasn't a horrible putter.

I got home around 8pm and played two more sets of poker.  I was falling asleep so I decided to stop.  So I guess I can look at my results.  I'm going to combine yesterday's and today's. I played 109 games.  Made two and a half buy-ins.  Ok... I'll take it.  I've been running horrid it seems like.  Heads-up especially.  Sick how many 2nd places I get. That's ok though, I go through spurts like this.  Soon enough I'll go on a sick run of firsts.

Read my blog if you have time.

Basically you just need to work smarter and harder than everyone else. And the smarter part is the tricky bit.

I'd move away from STT's to cash, so many resources and far more lucrative. Get a group of like minded people together (probably most important thing) and setup a forum and skype group, review hands together often, sweat each other often, very often (like every day).

Watch videos, but don't just watch them and write a few notes. Play them first time round without sound, pausing before instructor makes every big decision and write down what you'd do and why, if it differs with them highlight it, go through the video again with sound and write where your thought process differ.

You can't make mistakes at the table, like the difference between a 3BB/100 winner and breakeven can be like 3-4 more mistakes per hours.

GL OP :)
