Seems strange to be blogging when I’m sure no one will ever read – but hey ho. Main reason for writing this I guess is so I can vent or gloat about good and bad sessions; post the odd bad/good hand and maybe solicit some comment.

Before I start with my current grindings I’m going to give a bit of background. Started to play poker just over 3 years ago – shortly before Christmas 2006. Always had a flutter – spread betting on football (proper football – not that uber padded crush fest with yellow hankies) but decided to switch to poker thanks to a lucky early break and an obsessive character. 3 years later and I’m proud to say that with some sporadic micro tourney success I’ve never been broke and invested winnings in treats for the family. Biggest online win $400 in a steps SnG on PKR. Only the one live cash (only played live 3 times) when chopping pot 4 ways from a £10 rebuy to pocket £690.

Tried my hand at 6 max ring games between September and December 2008 thanks to a staking deal with Bad Beat but gave up after a difficult personal time at the end of 2008 – also found the need to play 3000 hands a week for someone else a real grind. No problem hitting 3K hands a week – I do that no probs for myself – but doing it for Bad Beat felt like work – so switched back to tourneys.

Late Nov 2009 I decided to invest in Holdem Manager – and wow ! Eyes opened to the possibilities in ring games. Switched my remaining bank roll to PokerStars and decided to try grinding 6Max cash and use the HUD’s to really improve my game.

Also learnt about Deuces Cracked from a podcast so willing to give this a whirl as well.

So we’ll see where we go – all I want out of this is to get better at my game. Hopefully get to a level where a good couple of sessions will buy a good gift for the family – and a bad session won’t matter. One thing I’m sure of is that I won’t go broke – it’s all about BRM!
