I first began playing poker seriously in 2007 by playing a few local NL tournaments and in 2008 I began playing on-line at PokerStars. At first I stuck to a “tight is right” policy which I guess is an OK strategy for the absolute beginner, after all it keeps you out of trouble most of the time, but I quickly found that tight is right is also another name for predictable and exploitable. I’ve read several book on Poker including small stakes hold‘em and Collin Moshman’s Sit’n’Go strategy and many others. I mention these two, because I feel they are the best book I’ve read so far, After reading these books I’ve found my understanding of the game has become much deeper, but I still find that I am still an over all looser. I finally discovered DeucesCracked a few months ago and have taken my game to the next level thanks to guys like Entity, Deathdonky, and Pygmy hero, but I am still not there yet (I have a tendency to spew in attempt to maintain an aggressive game). The purpose of this blog is to improve my game and hopefully meet guys/gals that love poker as much as I do. Also I am in the Navy will soon be retiring to civilian life after 20 something years and frankly the thought of landing and holding down another full time job makes me queasy, so I definitely want to improve my game to winning status so that I can supplement my pension with poker money and hopefully have enough left over to buy my way in to a few big tournaments a year. In my real life I don’t know anybody other then my father who appreciates poker the way I do. My favorite games are limit hold’em and single table SNGs. I eventually want to transition to NL cash and other forms such as Omaha and Horse events. Well in a nut shell that is pretty much me. I look forward to interacting with everybody in the forums.
