Rambling time!
First of all, a quick September update. I had my worst day yet in poker early in the month and spent the next couple of weeks climbing out of that hole grinding 6-max 100plo. I also ran pretty bad IRL this last week when my family was directly affected by crime in a super lame way. It's ironic since Mexico celebrated its 200th Independence anniversary on the 15th, just one day before the incident. Huge parties everywhere, parades and stuff. "Viva Mexico!" was all you heard that day.
Well, I disagree. Not Viva Mexico. Mexico is not independent. Socially, drug lords have a stronghold on the country. A big part of the police is corrupt. Not because they're bad guys, they just get paid so badly by the government and so well by criminal organizations. Also, imagine being a policeman. Three people with machine guns approach you and tell you they will pay you 10x your salary to give them information. You have a family. If you deny, they will not be happy. They know you have a family. Politically, we are not independent. Political parties act in their own interest. They spend more tax money on themselves, more each year. Every year politicians and their corporations become richer. Drug lords also have kidnapped or assassinated many political members this year. Economically, we are not independent. We are very highly dependent on the US and oil. We're running out of oil. The US isn't doing so well either. We make good neighbors though. They like drugs and have guns. We like guns and have drugs. High fives! (Edit: Just wanted to thank everyone who's out there working hard to make the world a better place, appreciate you being out there!)
So, we'll see how it goes. In the meantime, I'm off to Austin this weekend. Finally going to enjoy that Ratatat concert at Stubb's BAR-B-Q and watching new seasons of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Office, and Eastbound and Down.
Poker-wise, I feel really good about my PLO 6-max game. I'm now nearing about 900 posts on the forums, and most of them have been PLO-related. I've felt pretty confident in the video reviews I've been participating in, and the last sessions with my students have gone great. I've now to work a bit more on the mental side of the game. I usually don't tilt, but there have definitely been a few hours during my poker career I wish I could take back. My confidence and bankroll would've appreciated it a lot. In today's and future games I think playing your A-game will be one of the biggest determining factors in high win-rates. If you aren't able to focus and make the best decision every time it's highly unlikely you will make it.Â
As Travis said in his first Shuffle and Flow vid, "There is a huge gap in knowing what you should be doing and doing what you know you should be doing." Now alls I have to do is learn that I should be doing...and then just basically own that gap with discipline and ambition. Hope everyone's September was much better than mine, I'm sure KasinoKrime did! Congrats, dude! :)

Hey Orestto, glad to see you got your coaching program going. Loved my one session with you and after taking a long break from poker almost immediately after that, I'm back to playing and hope a few hours with you in the near future. (Did you ever get the sessions with DJ in? How'd it go?)
anyway, I remember you telling me you were from Mexico during the review and really wanting to ask you about the insanity that's going on there. Does any of it affect your day to day life? Are drug/crime related activities something you ever see? I'm pretty sure it's the most serious around Cuidad Juarez? Are you anywhere close to?
saw this yesterday: http://www.gold-producers.com/MEXICAN_DRUG_LORD.html
CRAZY. I mean...tigers? Really?

Hey Elston, thanks for stopping by! Very glad to see you back with grind on the mind. I did have one session with DJ so far, it went great. We actually did it not that long ago and went through some interesting hands. We could talk about them sometime for sure! :)
Yea, it definitely affects most people's day to day life, people that haven't been directly affected by crime still have to worry about being the next victim, it's not a good feeling. I'm actually at Austin right now going to be here for a few weeks so it's a breath of fresh air. You read about drug/crime related activities every day on the newspaper.
Honestly I haven't been following any coverage on Cd Juarez, I just know it's been getting worse in most states, including the city where I live. And yeah, narcos have been known to have tigers and other exotic animals in their homes. It's silly. Anyway, feel free to contact me anytime, talk soon!
