Goodbye August!
Hey Deuce Crackers,
So, as I'm not planning on playing the next 4 hours or so, August is officially over! As I said, month started out swingy while I was playing Rush PLO trying to clear a bonus. After the first week I had hit a low of -1,2k when I decided to switch back to my normal games. Ended up about +1,8k up in the cash games (3k swing), plus a +3,5k win in a PLO re-buy MTT. So I made like 5,3k this month, which means it's my best PLO month ever.
I will also be starting September at 200plo, which is where I've played my latest sessions. I've been running pretty well in the games and I've only been two tabling, which sucks if you want to get hands in, but is pretty good if you're looking to think about spots, get in-depth reads on your opponents, and just improve in general. I shall continue to do this and that's definitely what I'm trying to do. I also did play some more HU towards the end of the month, it went well except for a very short session versus Hypoxia where I lost a 40/60 and I ran into a rivered one-outer full house so my x/r bluff didn't work, ha. We're going to be playing more in the near future though, so I look forward to that.
Anyway here are some of the biggest hands I played this month:

So on the river I think my bet-sizing was pretty good. I was obviously trying to get max value from what seems to be a straight, trying to make my pot bet look like a busted flush draw, missed combo diamond and higher straight draw which I could certainly have, or even a hand like Q89T with a flush draw that I'm turning into a bluff because of top settage blockers. Villain requested time, eventually called and cursed a lot.

Still not good enough to fold the second nuts against the most maniac-like opponent at the table. However, given two min check-raises it does seem like a clear fold at some point, considering he is not good/bad enough to be bluffing with a one-card straight flush blocker. Oh well, lesson learned. Also probably too loose of a raise UTG/HJ, except I really wanted to play a pot versus the SB. That didn't seem to work out!

Standard bet-get it in on flop. Never folding here against this guy, and probably doing well enough because of added gutshot, blockers to some wraps and if he's pushing the NFD with a pair his Ace isn't an out. Flatting is whatevs, he's got $96 left after raising sooo, bad turn, great river and stack over 1k for the first time playing PLO cash.

The guy that lead plays pretty straightforward against me so raising the flop would not have been great. He can definitely read my hand like at least J6+ or a monster pair + wrap type of hand. There's also not much he could have and the two players behind me are loose and aggressive, like at about 71/21 and 89/50. Standard run good get it in with 91%.

Tough HU match against this guy, he had stacked me before getting it in on the turn, I had Q782 on T926 board, he got it in with J78T and rivered an 8 for a higher straight. This hand, pretty standard, flop the nuts, go from 72% to 3% on turn and miss my one-outer. Oh wells.   Â

I made a mistake by raising the flop, simply because I have 0 FE against the initial bettor and I have no pair. My equity should be OK but I'm not accomplishing much except getting people to fold out similar, but weaker draws. Another lesson learned. Fortunately the BTN just flats and we hit a 9 on the turn. I have less than a PSB left so the only move is to shove. BTN has the same wrap with a 3, and original bettor has an OESD with a 4. I have 67% on the turn and hold up. I wonder what the BTN would've done if I had just flatted the original bet with his specific hand.
I guess that's it. Lot of smaller pots which are probably much more interesting but less entertaining. I shall post some of those next month with some analysis. I'll leave you with the most entertaining hand I've seen this month, thanks to Mr. Clean for sharing!Â
Robl running it 4 times versus PA in a PLO hand.
