Coaching and PLO Skype Group
Hey all!Â
It's been a while since I posted on my blog, sorry about that. Been considerably busier these last few weeks. I'm practically done with my free coaching program, and I have to say it went pretty well. I took on about 7 students and I've had about 10 coaching sessions total. First of all, I'd like to thank the people that signed up for the program. I appreciate your time and sincerely hope your game has improved. Thank you for asking questions constantly. You know where to find me if you want to talk about PLO or whatever.
When I started the program, I was curious to see if I would like coaching people. Fortunately, I did. Coaching has a lot of benefits for a poker player. You improve your game significantly simply by teaching the fundamentals to other people and explaining your thought process. You expand your poker network with people that are actually taking steps to improve their game. Finally, it's just extremely satisfying when a student has an "aha" moments or when you see his game has improved considerably in between sessions. I've decided I will keep on coaching.
During these same few weeks I've also been getting coached. I joined n0whereman's PLO Dojo program. Sadly I've missed a couple of sessions but the first one went pretty well. I joined to improve my game and also to improve my coaching. Jason is a good coach, always looking to involve his students in the analysis of hands and you can see he has a solid understanding of PLO fundamentals. I'm also getting coached by KasinoKrime, one-on-one sessions. We've only had one session so far, but it was a great beginning. Most of the hands John and I analyzed were spots where I just wanted to be sure if my thinking was correct, although he also opened my mind to a couple of plays I hadn't really considered. I've been learning a ton from these coaches and look forward to my following sessions with both.
On top of all this coaching, I've been participating in a very active PLO Skype Group. I kind of started out chatting with only a couple of players. Now the group has about 15 active players, which I think is awesome. I think, not sure, most of them are from DC. We've been doing some sweating, video reviewing and discussing a considerable amount of hands. Obviously we've also been talking about random stuff and the World Cup!
Anyway, that's what I've been up to. I also stopped playing 50plo exactly a week ago and it's been going pretty well at 100plo. The only thing I am lacking is more volume, since I moved from FTP to PS and I'm trying to achieve SN on PokerStars this year. We'll see how that goes! Hopefully moving up to 200plo in the next couple of months, if I can sustain my current win-rate. :)
Non poker-wise I've been watching a ton of stand-up comedy lately. Damn, that looks like a difficult profession. I'm really only beginning to appreciate how hard it is to get up there in front of a ton of people and try to make them laugh. Bombing must feel horrible, haha. If anyone has any recommendations on solid stand-up comedians please post in commentaries!
Update soon,Â

Nh sir. I like Joe Rogan but more for his life perspective/UFC than his comedy. Dude is a sick role model :)

Thanks, Mitch. Just saw a youtube video where he confronts Carlos Mencia for stealing material from other comedians, pwn. Right now watching Robert Klein. Seems pretty angry.
