Bradley really did play a great game. Also, I would argue that Yebda was the biggest reason Howard didn't have to perform any heroics. His ridiculous outside the box shots came no where close to the goal.

Comment on Turning a Pair into a Bluff by which

if the Ace turn does not change anything in Trypt's hand would a turn raise be terrible? You get to rep the Ace which is very believable while putting the SB to a test, since he may face a 3bet from the BB. Meanwhile your hand is not so bad versus Trypt's range.

If you get the SB out, would Trypt 3bet facing a possible CAP with a draw? If the SB calls your raise, one of them figures to have a draw which means the river may kill you. If Trypt 3bets with the SB still in, you can probably find a turn fold, while if he just calls, you can play the river having the lead?

Not sure my take is a good one, my stakes are waaaaayyyyy lower,

One thing, what makes you think you are not equal to the first tier players? Any indicators beyond your own feelings?

Leaves the Group Wide open though and with the German Result earlier anything can happen at the moment and winning the group may not actually be the blessing it usually is.

I still expect England to win the group but this World Cup is throwing form and supposed class out of the window at the moment. I'll be a nervous man from about 7pm tonight.

US look dangerous from set pieces but were mainly limited to pot shots which at international level should be enough to keep them out.

England showed a couple of moments of quality and the US defense looks shaky at best but England's defense and ability to self-destruct is legendary.

At the moment if nothing changed 2nd half performance wise I'd say 1-1 would be a fair scoreline tbh.

Have you noticed how Rooney is the only England player who doesn't run with his head down and can actually pick out a pass?

I went to this game and it was awesome! Finley is sort of a poor man's Charlie Davies, but he really impressed me with his speed and work ethic. He really changed the game for us and gave us a great spark. Torres/Gooch also played very well. Overall, the subs really played well and moving Dempsey back helped as well. Jose had a sick move to break free w/ 3 defenders on him too.

At first glance I thought fist-pump flop 3bet w/ 55, but after reading your analysis, I definitely agree with your decision to CC and evaluate(I think it's safe to assume that the fish never B/Fs this flop texture). What was the plan on various turn cards? Are there any cards you're folding? Raising? Can you give us an idea of what types of hands you'd be CCing this flop with?

Given the action, I don't see how you can credibly represent anything, and I don't see Trypt folding anything better. I think we can assume that you never have a pair of A's, a set or pair of 7's, a set of 2's or 3's, a straight, or any 2 pair combo. I'd also have a hard time giving you credit for a FD, because if you didn't jam the flop with a FD, I'd expect you to try and rep a very believable ace on the turn.

Sure it's possible, but he'll only have to fold 1 in 5 and given how small my bluff range is and how thinly he'll be valuebetting given the third guy in the pot, plus the fact that he may very well turn a pair of sixes into a bluff here, makes this a pretty nice spot imo.

Unless he is very weak and gives up on pots *very* easily, so much so that you can iso/steal on the flop "enough" to profit with ATC, I really hate choosing this hand to raise with. At best you could describe it as a two-card hand looking to make a flush. You simply don't need to ever play a hand with 22 in it "for balance" because you can never make top set. I don't personally understand why anyone plays any hand 66 and lower as top set isn't even the nuts when you flop it, and 77 and 88 are pretty damn marginal unless they come along with a second pair.

As for the PLO hand, I don't think that is a great hand to be 3betting OOP 250BB deep. Flopping a set of 2's is like an RIO nightmare this deep.

I think that the highest overall EV play there is to just bet out with the nut flush and bet big. You want him to think you are bluffing and so we sort of want to put him to the test. This deep it is a pretty reasonable spot for him to check behind with a straight or most of his made hands that he has on the turn because getting check raised on this river is puke inducing. Against his specific hand he probably would've called a c/r but honestly it would be sooooo sick for you to river c/r with just the A of clubs blocker HU and based on how you played the hand I am guessing that generally isn't in your play book (no offense).

Overall though with the naked NFD and no pair I think the turn is a fold. You have to assume he has a made hand better than what we have here and unless you suspect he will pay you off here a lot when your flush comes it seems like you are going to be bleeding money in this sort of spot.

Jacks will be junk in any multiway pot, there are two babies behind so it is much less likely villain is stealing ATC. Unless villain is raise/folding a ton and the two guys behind are total nits I can't see you having a great deal of immediate fold equity. Combine that with all the horrendous RIO spots you can end up in and I don't really think you can hope to do much better than break even with buried jacks here, even with perfect play.

Rugby League? Is that the thing I sometimes see on TV with no rucking? Yeah, that doesn't exist in America at all afaik. And if it does, it definitely doesn't exist in Pittsburgh, PA.

To UncleFrost,

I played all along the backline in college, but assume I'll be a wing for Pitt City. Best guess, at least.

I'm guessing your Australian Ribbo? Rugby League is the dumbest sport of all time, Union is where it's at!

James, I think it's pretty interesting that you and I both pretty much diagnosed what was going on in the hand accurately all the way through the decision tree and only on the last decision did your line of thinking really differ strongly from mine.

You figured my range pretty accurately on the river and you targeted the bottom of it; you also figured that I'm capable of b/f a value hand on the river, which is correct. This might be a case of me leveling you a bit, realizing that you'll be turning a lot of your bad value range into a bluff, and turning a hand I might otherwise b/f into a bluff catcher.

It just goes to show you the kinds of adjustments you need to make within the framework of an aggressive and somewhat balanced match.

Comment on Betting to Induce a Bluff Raise by Deepsquat1

I still cant work out whether i like my play in this hand or not.

I think the flop is pretty uninteresting. Id been mixing up my flop/turn play a fair bit. My default had been to wait until the turn with most of my value and bluff range but id also made a conscious effort to raise some flops for value IP in some spots where it looks like BS and i think i did induce a bluff 3bet from you on 1 occasion probably due to that fact, but i havent discussed that with you yet.

Im also capable of floating this flop although its probably not wise given pf and the fact that you will be reasonably SD bound despite 3betting me wide.

Turn- This was a tough street for my hand. I think you ar ecapable of c/r a wide range on the turn as a bluff and for thin value. I did feel i had slightly enough of a hand if you will c/c 7x7h or something like that, although its probably a slight mistake looking back.

The turn call is pretty standard ldo, seeing you could do this with a naked heart (prob with no SD value) although im not sure how many of those you have in your range given pf. I mean i dont know if you 3bet 8h7x vs me often enough and i think Qhigh/J high maybe SDable on alot of rivs here.

River- another interesting street. You were obviously 1 level above (thats why you get the big bucks!)
I think vs alot of good, thinking players i can credibally represent a strong heart here as this is exactly how i would play one, and its hard to say whether id bet the turn with it, probably not vs you.

Also, many villains dont think their opponents are capable of turning a made hand into a bluff and will b/f something like your hand which is what i felt you had or a medium heart.

I doubt you c/r naked Jh or Qh on the turn but definately could do it with a non-sd heart but i felt you most likely hand would be something like it was, a medium Ax and the pot was big enough and you were capable of folding it given the reasons i stated above.

Pwned imo :)
