Introduction

What’s up guys? For anyone who doesn’t know, I’m a (primarily) HULHE player and coach here at Deuces Cracked. I’d like to start this blog to give you guys an idea, not only about my thoughts on poker, but also about my life outside of gambling. So in addition to posting some, hopefully interesting, poker hands here, I will also be giving you guys some insight into my world.

First, a primer:

I graduated from The University of Michigan in 2008, receiving my Masters in Fine Arts in the subject of Poetry. Upon graduation, however, I began to play poker quite seriously for the first time in my life. I had played limit hold ’em since I discovered hold ’em poker for advanced players by David Sklansky, and had some pretty decent success before UIEGA hit. However, like many online poker players, I struggled in the wake of it.

Up to this point, I had always thought of LHE as a preflop game. I had dabbled a little in heads up and short handed play, but still thought about decisions in what, I now realize, were incredibly simplistic terms. Once I began studying the game seriously, I realized how much was left out of poker books, especially when it came to short handed play. I still remember reading HEPFAP’s description of short handed play. If you want a good laugh, check it out.

Right now I’m living in Pittsburgh with my girlfriend of a year and a half. I’m in the middle (I hope) of one of the best runs of my poker career. I just joined a Rugby team (I played in college). We’re going to have a party tomorrow. There should be a ton to write about. I look forward to it.
