Poker Forums

In todays day and age, Poker is more openly discussed. In the past, players used to travel from casino to casino from game to game to try and make decent wager playing poker. And if they were lucky they would make friends with regular players similar to themselves that traveled the same rounds which made the sharing of poker knowledge very limited. However with the help of our beloved interwebz, modern day poker players are able to play a game anywhere they want. This includes their living rooms wearing nothing but their tighty-whites (scary thought, i knorite) Also with online games came online forums which in turn helped to spread the knowledge of poker. Anyone from your next door neighbor to my very own grandmother could just hop on the computer and start reading poker forums. This was great for it made people want to go online and play. This meant of course losing all their moneys to real players. My only regret is with the ease of getting on a poker forum to read up on poker came the ease of writing on said forums about poker they think they know. With this i would like to comment on one recent poker forum i read, i won’t way where i read it. The OP made the topic something along the lines of “Why i no longer play in the micro limits, LMAO” He then proceeded to reveal what happened in a hand where he was dealt A-A on the button yet he lost to K-2o at the showdown. Basicly it went something like this: He is dealt rockets, 6 players limp to him and he decides to limp along saying in his own words “I decided to call here and trap all of them. And if the blinds raise it up, ill call and trap them too” So he wants a 6 way possible 8 way trap, very pro move. The flop did end up helping him as it was Ac-6d-7d. Everyone checks to him and with top set he decides its a great idea to continue to set this genius trap of his. The Turn is Js. Does not help him but niether does it help anyone else as they once again check to our “Hero” on the button. So what at this point does our “Hero” intend do…… you may have guessed, he checks it down working continuously on this master trap of his. The River brings the Qd. It again gets checked all the way to the cutoff who decides lets min bet it. Our “Hero” raises it everyone fold to the orginal bettor who reraises our “Hero”. “Hero” pushes all in all to happily only to get snap called by the Cutoff who flips over K-2 suited of Diamonds. King high flush over “Hero’s” top set. The game chat box is then filled with chatter of love and happyness. I could not help but laugh at this post and wonder……. honestly my ability at the time to think was hindered by the horribad play of the OP. 6 pages of posts than filled the thread completely tearing OP apart. Now i know that i should be glad that there are fish like this otherwise who would i make moneys off of, but still this is just beyond words bad. This is the kind of stuff people look at and say poker is too luck based, look at this hand. This guy had best hand til river and lost, if thats not luck then what. Sigh P.S. OP claims in his post that he normally plays higher limits and plays them well, just had run of bad luck and tried rebuilding his roll in lower limits. Oh and these limits was NLHE 2$ Max. If he cant handle playing these limits…… wow -Nevec

My First Entry.

So this being my first entry i would like to take a minute so just sit right there as tell you a wee bit bout myself. I started playing poker when i was very young. (So young i really cant remember what age i was) Although i do remember this, my first game i played was 5 Card Draw. I think it was because a draw game was my first game that draw games are my favourite game today. Eventually i moved onto Stud. Played these games off and on for many years til i became 14ish. Thats when i started playing way more seriously. I started playing Hold’em bout 3 year ago and though it is a great game, one that i think is best played in tournaments, i do still think Stud and Draw games to be the very best of poker. Wasnt til 2001 that someone showed my the online world of poker but i still took to home games and casinos. Was bout 2005 that i started playing online games in this league setup. It was a interesting setup of keeping score and such but it was cash game style games only and at the end of the year the top 9 players play against each other to see who wins the main prize. In 2005 i work my way all the way up and in my first year i won that league, also went on to win it again and defend title in 2006. Been playing online ever since. With more entrys to come, i would like to share with you all my storys of my poker life and of my epic adventures outside of poker. Maybe you the readers (all 9 of you, i know i am that hopeful) will find them to be very exciting and full of awesomeness. -Nevec
