My NLHE Background: How I lost half my roll to Krantz

I'll try to explain what I've been through as a poker player. I'll  try to make it  short and will leave out some to make it "readable". As meantion earlier, my purpose for making this blog, is to see my story from another perspective - but I still hope you enjoy.

I started playing poker in 2009 when I turned 18.  I did - like many before me - deposit>bust small amount. But after some time, and countless deposits, I decided to put some more effort into improving my game. Until that I had only played micro SNG and 6 max cash game, and was down around 300€. That's included some 25plo, where I was donking away a new deposit every day. After that I told myself to stick to NLHE, and I did - until now.

That is where I found Deucescracked. Until that my only source of information, had been a danish poker forum, which was trolled alot. I had some really good posters and posts, but there was far between these. Oh yeah - I had also read Sklansky's "Foundamental theorem of poker". TWICE! :D

In the following half year I made my way through the micro's. From 2nl to 50nl. I was mostly playing 25-30nl and had grinded alot of kickbackbonusses. So my bankroll was around the 2k. Around this time I didn't had the same feelings about poker. Instead of feeling satificed about reaching goals and improving both my game and my bankroll, I just felt empty. It's like the whole "road" was laying infront of me, and indstead of taking it all, I just wanted to skip the the end. That's is actually a bad way of thinking, because there shouldn't really be any end. Not in poker or life (or maybe in life :P) But you should improve all the time, and that should be the meaning indstead.

That collimated at a week early this year, where I tried limitrushing NLHU. First time was against a loosing player (PTR stats) on 600nl, where I made a early dubble up and left  with a plus of 700 usd. That rush I felt and the great saticfaction was like the first time I was introduces to poker. The first time the money went to the middle, and the first time I shipped the pot my way. It was ecstatic! That's a dangerous feeling when it's about gambling. After some breakeven tries at 200-400nl, I found myself sitting down at 1000nl HU against mr. Pr1nnyraid. Deucescracked wrote on their Facebook page, that he was playing and recording a movie. Without thinking my reponse was to play him.

When poker is about making the best posible dicission to push sometime small equitty egdes, it's just insanity to start out with a huge mistake like that. After that, I withdrew the last of my roll and left the game with a profit.

I have made some deposits and playing HU after this, so all in all I'm breaking even with hold em adventure.

I think thats around 200k hands in cash and a medium amount SNG and MMT...

At the moment, i'm trying to make succes in PLO. I'm trying to watch alot of the video content and reading the articles and post on the different forums.

My results so far is:

  • around 7k hands at 2plo and 5plo on stars with a winrate at 10bb/100
  • 2k hands on 10plo where I blew away half of the profit from the lower leves :P

ATM I'm playing at ongame, mostly because they have a nice reward system + the games are soft.

Their lowest stakes are PLO10, so that's what I'll play.

I hope you enjoyed, if you read this far :PLater I'll try to make a blog about my PLO challenge and goals.
