I think this is what they call a heater

Well things have been going great for me!
I had a bit of trouble a week or two ago when my steady upward trend faltered – I feared a big downswing and was generally not playing strongly. I took a lot of time off, playing for about an hour a day and doing lots of work studying and working on my game the rest of the days. Looks like it has really paid off! Here is my current lifetime 50nl graph

Anyway, the main things I have been working on:
Learning how to handle 3 bets and 3 betting myself, including how to handle cbetting and general flop play. I have started to 3 bet a lot lighter in position especially, people tend to fold or if they call they play fit or fold post flop – which is very much +EV
Learning when to let a hand go, and when to call down a spazz bluffing with 5th pair. This is something that I will always be working on. The main aspect of this is villain type and aggression.
Meh cant be bothered writing any more right now, going to go watch some tv
Been playing steadily over the last week or so and really getting results. I have been running decently well except for today which I am taking off. I started the day with a +$50 session but after that have been up and down and have really been struggling to focus properly. I decided it would be more +EV for me to take the rest of the day off poker and try to rest my mind a little. Anyway heres the graph, starting to establish a decent trend.

I really feel like I have broken through 50NL now! It took some time to adjust to the difference from 25NL but once I got there it’s really not that much harder at all. A big factor has also been table selection – I want to say something on this subject.
All DC advice has been to always play on the deep stack tables, so you can avoid the shortstackers, however I find these tables to be completely reg infested. It is not uncommon to find 7 out of 9 players at a deep stack table are regs playing 6 or more tables. Moving away from this is simply a matter of seeking out the non deep tables that have few shortstackers in them – not too hard with some table scanning software.
Anyway this is my current 50NL graph, may be a heater but still on the way up!

It’s been about 2 months since I posted on this, I have come a looooong way.
I steaded through 2NL and 5NL then hit a wall at 10NL.
It just seemed like I was breakeven for a long time – though I can honestly put this down to the rake on FT being CRAZY HIGH at 10NL. To get your true win rate you basically need to add on rakeback. It has been calculated that the rake difference between FT and stars is roughly equal to the rakeback on FT.
Anyway, I made it through 10NL eventually, then took a shot at 25NL….
Which I steamrolled in about a week.
I am now taking a shot at 50NL (not really a shot because I have a good bankroll for it now)
Initially I had trouble with the aggression, constantly getting 3 bet and people raising the flop all over the place, but I think I have it under control now.
This is my graph for 50NL so far, just hit breakeven

Anyway, hope I can establish some kind of win rate from now, only time will tell.
It is around about a month since I started playing poker again. In that time I have read a couple of books (Harrington 1-3 and others) which were great but I seem to have trouble figuring out exactly what I want to play (SNG,MTT, Cash, Limit??).
I think I have settled on NL cash, because it looks like thats where the money is being made. I am going to start out with full ring until I feel that my understanding of the game is a little bit more advanced.
I had a couple of ill fated attempts at 10NL (which was dumb with a $50 bankroll) , owned by variance.
I currently have about $35 on FT, so I plan to play 2NL for a bit, switching up to 5NL when I hit $50 again. I won’t move from there to 10NL until I hit 100 at the least.
My plan is to play very tight agressive, almost NIT in full ring. Playing only 8% or so, and focusing on my post flop play with these premium hands.
This should turn out a low but solid win rate (hopefully something like 5BB/100) which I can stick with while learning through the micro limits.
I am going to read Phil Gordon’s little green book today, will see how that goes
