U can see those hands and think sth like “shit, I have hands like those all the time”, ok whatever …

To jump into the topic about poker psychology I have to use a “how we are thinking – diagram” and after this I will write sth about why our mind should work in good way but it is working in other – bad way.

This “bad thinking” has a bad influence on our game – basically we are starting to play bad in small pots ( small pot are the most important for our winrate )

so …

lets go with this diagram :

Im gonna to use a diagram from LP miniseries about “Emotional control”

Event → Interpretation → Emotion → Action – simple, right ? :)

now let’s back to our AA vs KK crushed:

Event = AA < KK

Interpretation =

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 81.946% 81.71% 00.23% 50371344 142614.00 { AA }
Hand 1: 18.054% 17.82% 00.23% 10986372 142614.00 { KK }

Emotion = Hooooly shit, Im loosing again huge hands over and over and over and over = anger, frustration

Action = steaming, or going into fish tilt or other tilt = we are stop fighting for small pots, we are making to much -EV calldowns, fancy plays ETC.

Why ? beacouse we lost MONEY in situation big hand vs big hand

what I want to achieve?

we have to change our interpretation in big hand vs big hand situation…

lets put our “friend” on shoving/calling shove preflop range →

99+, AQ+ right ? our range for preflop is the same.

Now : How looks like our interpretation of this situation ?

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 84.119% 82.75% 01.37% 399577656 6607650.00 { AA }
Hand 1: 15.881% 14.51% 01.37% 70076772 6607650.00 { 99+, AQs+, AQo+ }

So our emotion is pretty simple : FAIL ! omg im running soooo damn baaad blablabla

but …

In our head is only AA vs ours opponent range but not OUR entire range vs opponents entire range so if our head we will have RANGES not specific hands EQ calcs are changing very much

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 50.000% 45.45% 04.55% 2885555328 289056288.00 { 99+, AQs+, AQo+ }
Hand 1: 50.000% 45.45% 04.55% 2885555328 289056288.00 { 99+, AQs+, AQo+ }

frome huge favorite to perfect coinflip.

conclusion is simple : keep ranges NOT SPECIFIC HANDS in your mind = U will win the same amount and U will loose the same amount = just focus on smaller pots with much thiner edge and make the biggest +EV decissions ever.

Sorry for my english again

best regards
Majster

First session on blog

So this is MAIN let’s go post ;)

1. part of the post will be HAND-part ( biggest hands and maybe hands which have decided about dynamics of the match )

I was playing on NL50 HU against pretty damn loose and aggro opponent.

Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold’em – 2 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

Hero (BTN/SB): $50.00
BB: $50.00

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BTN/SB with K Diamond 6 Diamond
Hero raises to $1.50, BB calls $1

Flop: ($3.00) 6 Club T Diamond 2 Spade (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $2, BB raises to $6.50, Hero calls $4.50

Turn: ($16.00) Q Heart (2 players)
BB bets $9.50, Hero calls $9.50

River: ($35.00) Q Club (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Final Pot: $35.00
Hero shows K Diamond 6 Diamond (two pair, Queens and Sixes)
BB shows A Club 5 Diamond (a pair of Queens)
Hero wins $34.50
(Rake: $0.50)

Firstly sth about this player : I was sweating my friend and I had a note “aggro spewy” but I didnt have idea what this guy will be doing.

In first hand, even on NL50 Im trying to value-bet as much it is possible, K6 on this flop looks good : player from NL50 will call me with any pair any GS and large portion of the time with A high.

He decided to c/r me : His range : air, gs, sets, 2x 6x and I expect him to c/c this flop with Tx.

Turn : he views this card as good card to bluff, but Q doesnt improove his range all that often ( Q6 Q2, maybe semibluff with QJ ) = call

River : If he will bet here that wouldt be bluff or that often so I decided to fold this river if he bets – he checks and showup A5o = and I thought daaamn, this will be damn aggro and hard match.

=========

next hand is tricky and interesting

Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold’em – 2 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

Hero (BTN/SB): $66.50
BB: $50.50

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BTN/SB with J Diamond K Diamond
Hero raises to $1.50, BB raises to $4.50, Hero calls $3

Flop: ($9.00) K Spade 8 Heart 9 Spade (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $6.50, BB calls $6.50

Turn: ($22.00) A Spade (2 players)
BB bets $39.50 all in, Hero folds

Final Pot: $22.00
BB wins $21.50
(Rake: $0.50)

preflop pretty standard, I expect him to 3-bet a tons without reason so lets call KJ and go from there

flop : standardish, if he will c/r me on this flop Ill propably play this hand as bluffcather. he decided to call me so he might have tons of hands in his range ( Still I dont have info how this guy is playing strong draws in single raise pots / 3-bet pots)

the turn rolls of and he INSTAJAMS : this looks strange.. I might put him here on 2par Ax + fdraw or complete bluff but I decided to fold my KJ – what do Ya think about it ? :]

=============

this hand is after 30-60 hands ( dont know eexactly )

He was playing 90% IP and 90% OOP so I decided to openraise 100% of my buttons and c-bet any single flop, cuz he was folding. And after this first A5o hand this guy decided ty play waaay more straight forward. Let’s see next hand

Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold’em – 2 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

Hero (BTN/SB): $57.40
BB: $120.15

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BTN/SB with 8 Diamond 6 Heart
Hero raises to $1.50, BB calls $1

Flop: ($3.00) 9 Heart 4 Spade 3 Club (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $2, BB calls $2

Turn: ($7.00) 8 Spade (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $5, BB raises to $10, Hero folds

Final Pot: $17.00
BB wins $16.50
(Rake: $0.50)

Preflop and flop As i Said – just OR 100% + c-bet 100% = show a profit

Turn : I picked up 8 so its look for me like clear v-bet against 22, 3x, 4x, 55,66,77 maybe A high → after his minraise I puthim on range like this :

Board: 9h 4s 3c 8s
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 87.500% 87.50% 00.00% 616 0.00 { 88, 44-33, As5s, As3s, 98s, 6s5s, 98o }
Hand 1: 12.500% 12.50% 00.00% 88 0.00 { 8d6h }

I didnt have enough EQ to continue against this guy so I decided to fold.

===============

and the last hand against this guy :

Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold’em – 2 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

Hero (BTN/SB): $59.90
BB: $74.60

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BTN/SB with K Spade A Heart
Hero raises to $1.50, BB raises to $4.50, Hero raises to $13, BB calls $8.50

Flop: ($26.00) Q Spade 4 Club 8 Heart (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($26.00) A Spade (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $8, BB calls $8

River: ($42.00) Q Heart (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $38.90 all in, BB calls $38.90

Final Pot: $119.80
Hero shows K Spade A Heart (two pair, Aces and Queens)
BB shows Q Club K Heart (three of a kind, Queens)
BB wins $119.30
(Rake: $0.50)

Preflop Pretty standard = he decided to call : guys on NL50 dont like to fold hands like 88 99 KQ QJ KJs AJ AT so lets call OOP ;).

Flop play : this flop is dry – I dont expect him to call me with many worst hands (maybe AJ and AT ?) + this guy is playing straight forward so I decided to check down myy hand and be good largeo portion of the time.

Turn : I picked up A on the turn so I decided to make this “bluffy play” and get call flop Qx maybe 99 and obv A high ( with intention of shoving any river obv )

River : the Q rolls of and situation looks interesting : he might have Qx I have this Qx in my range veeeery small portion of a time ( given a flop check )
I decided to shove river cuz after Q rolls of on the river he is holding less Qx in his range + I can induce a call flop those pockets and worst Ax obv. Do ya like my play or more on the spewy side ?

=============

ufff :]

Now we can go to 2nd part of this post = my mentality during the session.

So totay I was on horrible mental condition, in last 2months I lost soo much money on stars and my mind is owned by one thought “oooh shit, you are soooo donk – you SHOULDNT go on stars/unibet to maxymalize your EV – you SHOULD stay on FTP and now play NL400HU”.
I had some tilt in my mind before the session so I need only small triger to put me on the monkey tilt and it happend …

this guy was playint horrible, limp/smal preraises with crap and c-beting all day long anything, calling any my huge+EV bluffs with bottom pairs no kicker on 4tostraight boards.

So in this hand i Decided to trap his limp/reraise and pick up some money from c/bet on the flop.

Full Tilt Poker $0.50/$1 No Limit Hold’em – 2 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

Hero (BB): $106.70
BTN/SB: $303.70

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is BB with A Diamond A Heart
BTN/SB raises to $3, Hero raises to $10, BTN/SB raises to $17, Hero calls $7

Flop: ($34.00) K Spade 6 Club 4 Spade (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets $10, Hero raises to $25, BTN/SB calls $15

Turn: ($84.00) 8 Heart (2 players)
Hero bets $64.70 all in, BTN/SB calls $64.70

River: ($213.40) 3 Heart (2 players – 1 is all in)

Final Pot: $213.40
Hero shows A Diamond A Heart (a pair of Aces)
BTN/SB shows 6 Diamond 6 Spade (three of a kind, Sixes)
BTN/SB wins $212.90
(Rake: $0.50)

When he called me I put him on any pair on this flop obv ( I made a stupid reraise so stack/pot ration wasnt perfect on this turn ) but I decided to ship it in cuz he was cally and this 8 might give him some additional EQ = more reasons to call here 67 _

and he shows me pocket 66 ther … after this I decided to close the tables.

During the session I wasnt playing my best game cuz this thought about money lost on stars is owning me so much …

any toughts what sould I do ? obv reading once again ‘the poker mindset’ and ‘elements of poker’ looks good ….
