Whats Up DC?

The Month is trudging along and I’m no worse for it. Pokerwise things have gone a lot better since i cut out HUPLO… it was probably a mistake to jump into those games with very little experience. oh well.
I had been searching for a new poker site and I found Absolute Poker would fulfill my needs as a HU player looking for some more action. I thought about this decision for a while as a moral thing, seeing as they were the center of the first of two big poker scandals. I think enough time has passed from the scandal that we might need to think about forgiving and forgetting. plus, they’re really only Italy to UB’s Germany.. so no big deal, amirite?

I’ve also found my IPN skin. I’ve fished around for offers and I think I’ve found one that I’m happy with. I’ll likely make a deposit sometime near the start of the month and give them a try. Being Canadian helps out the options in the HUHU world, which is really nice.

I’ve been doing a some coaching lately, most publicly with forum poster Taoism in our epic HUHU series Why Do They Call It Who-Who?, which you can check out in the Episode 4 Discussion Thread I’m pretty happy with how this whole thing turned out.

A Real Life update:

It’s my anniversary today… my last one, in fact, before I’ll have a marriage anniversary. That’s kind of exciting. I think our day will be pretty quiet until we go out for dinner for my grandma’s 85th birthday tonight… good times.

I’m in the middle of a bunch of work related things right now. I was laid off from my job at the end of the year, and am now a casual. This has been really nice, actually. I like not working very much. It’s also given me a reason to get my applications and resume packages together for teaching again. I’m likely going to be heading out on monday to all the surrounding districts in my area to pass them out. Fun day.

I watched The Hurt Locker last night. It was very good, and I highly recommend it. If you haven’t heard of it, it follows the day to day of a group of bomb technicians in Iraq. Pretty crazy stuff.
